Thanks everyone for all the support this past week; it's been amazing
to see the team rally like we did in 2004.

Depending on your point of view, I'm not sure the newspaper article
today was much help -- so it will be critical that we pack the room on
Monday evening (that's tonight, June 28!). I would encourage as many
as possible to sign up for the 6:30 pm public comment session and
speak directly to the council prior to the meeting... While this is an
emotional issue for most of us, I would recommend that we remain
professional (e.g. no need to directly reference the Hall family or
"Wal-Mart" by name for instance, and we should be respectful in
addressing the city's leaders).

The East Side Preservation Association's position is that this new
zone is not a sensible fit in a residential neighborhood -- please
fell free to personally expand on that in terms of the obvious, and
substantial, quality of life issues that a retail development would
bring to our neighbors, especially when downtown Meriden needs mixed
use development like this to breathe new life into the city.

As I mentioned earlier, I have to be in Atlanta on business and I feel
horrible that I'll miss this event. Be sure that no matter how the
vote goes, it's been great working with everyone and getting to know
our neighbors along the way -- and as the great Yogi Berra said, "It
ain't over til it's over".

Best regards,

Dave

Pardon the typo -- the date should read June 21.

I just spoke to the Clerk of the City Council, per State Regs there will no
comment allowed on the Hall Farm development. The meeting starts @ 7 and
any public comment is to be registered by 6:30.
