Lockeland School participation

NCD is beginning our resident artist spot at Lockeland Elementary next week! I am looking for several volunteers to come to class from 11:30am-12:30pm on Thursday, December 12 and Wednesday, December 18.

I will bring photography equipment (lights, camera, tripod, backdrop, and remote) and we will set up a "studio" in the classroom and discuss how to use lighting to change the way you express feelings in a portrait. Then they will take turns making self portraits. Later, we will use the images the students made to create cyanotypes using SunPrint paper.

Times needed:

- Thursday, December 12 - 11:30am to 12:30pm

- Wednesday, December 18 - 11:30am to 12:30pm

We will likely meet with them for an additional class after the holiday break, but I don't have a date for this meeting yet.

If you are available and interested in spending an hour or two with some fun fourth graders, please get in touch with me as soon as possible!

Hey everybody,

Welcome to the world, Thomas Henry Haubenreich! For those who may not have seen John’s announcement on facebook this morning, Thomas joined us Earthlings at 5:15 this morning, and all are happy and well. I’m picking up the reins this morning because John’s probably a bit busy. And sleepy. :-)

Attached is an updated press release for the benefit. Tommy Womack has agreed to play for us (yaaay!!!) and to my knowledge, that was the last question we needed to answer before beginning to hound the press. This is super timing, as Tommy has a track on the brand new Oxford American sampler, and will spend January as an Artist in Residence with the Escape to Create Foundation. So it’s just awesome that he is in town, and on board.

I am going to get the release over to Native, the East Nashvillian, Lightning 100 and Jim Ridley at the Scene. I will also plug the essentials into nowplayingnashville.com. I will also establish a facebook event page.

If anyone has any contacts with any other press entities, please feel free to distribute the attached release to them asap, and let the group know so we don’t double team anybody.

I believe John generated the original artwork for the flyer. John, when you can, (no rush!!!) please plug Tommy’s name in there and re-distribute. Is the flyer high enough resolution for print, or is it web only? If the latter, can we get a hi-res flyer made?

I was able to generate a flyer for the web. Use at will. :-)

The resolution is not high enough for print, so we may have to depend on John to get back into his files when he can.

Hey all -- check the Dropbox link I posts on the listserv.  That should get you into all of my NCD files, including the flyers/artwork (under the "December 2013 Fundraiser" folder).  Lemme know if you can't get it.

Made it in paint.net (free graphics program, so you can edit the .pdn file if you want).  Otherwise, the .png is high-res enough to print, I believe...
