Hello all:

We have heard from so many of you compelling stories about how you have used what you learned in our trainings to improve your life. As we continue to expand our reach and let more people know about the benefits of this training, we are finding that specific, real-life stories of how people’s lives have improved are very convincing. When people can resonate with a problem, the story of someone who is working with it commands immediate attention.

Would you be willing to share one or more specific stories or examples of using the NVC mediation training from your own life experience?

Things to keep in mind (especially if you think you don’t have any stories):

·      No story is too small: sometimes the most seemingly mundane stories can have the biggest impact

·      Endings don’t have to be happy: sometimes what we learn is more important than the outcome

·      We don’t have to have been successful in our attempt: sometimes how we are trying is more captivating than how we have succeeded

·      Stories are tied to a particular time/place/event/people

·      Everyone has a compelling story that has the power to touch other people!

We are looking for vignettes that pertain to any of the following…

·       Internal mediation

·      Interpersonal mediation

·      Formal mediation

·      Informal mediation

·      Enemy Image Process

·      Mourn Celebrate Learn

·      Healing and Reconciliation (and Making Amends)

·      Group Mediation

·      Group Decision Making

·      Coaching others around conflict

·      Making Agreements

·      Using any of the nine skills

·      Using any of the four communication choices

·      How practicing supported you in a real-life situation

And might be from any of these situations…

·      Your intimate relationship

·      Interactions with family or friends

·      Social situations

·      Your workplace, with colleagues, clients, customers, bosses or direct reports

·      Casual encounters

We would like to incorporate these real-life vignettes as blog posts on the NVC Mediation website (focusing on the story itself) and also include them in the book (to bring to life the processes, skills, and maps). We are happy to accommodate people who would prefer to remain anonymous but who would like to share their experience.

Julie Stiles will be handling the logistics, and if necessary conducting brief interviews to gather these stories. If you are interested in participating please respond directly to Julie at julie...@wordsthatwork.us.

Even if you aren’t quite sure how to frame your story, we welcome you to respond, as we would enjoy helping you clarify it.

  Warmly,

Ike
