Hello Denver Parks & Rec, Councilmembers Hinds & Watson, and Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Committee Members (BCC'D),
As you may or may not be aware, several bike connections route through City Park utilizing the roadway along the South of Ferril Lake & the City Park Pavilion. This rode is identified as the D8 Bike Route.
Requesting for it to be striped with lanes similar to Wash Park, potentially placing pedestrians to the outside going against bike traffic & bikes going two-way in the center.
It could look something like this dividing the road into 4 equal lanes.
I'm then also requesting for these lanes to be kept unobstructed for special events in the park. This could mean adjusting the set-up for events that have occupied that space in the past.
Notice that the porta-potties & dumpsters completely block the left pedestrian lane in the example, which never happens in Wash Park.
I feel this is is a necessary step to help people shift their mode of transportation out of a vehicle & onto a bicycle. Blocking the route forces riders to either cross a busy roadway or ride along an uneven sidewalk.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson
