Instead of waiting to install something that may or may not align with the recommendation as a Neighborhood Bikeway, what if we get approval for our own "Tactical Urbanism" now?
Just spitballing, but what if we partnered with the Denver Streets Partnership or BikeStreets.com to implement something extremely low-cost on our own that we could install by this Spring?
Here are a few things we could try:
This would limit the through traffic significantly on that street. Perhaps we could go a step further & add a diverter at Steele St forcing drivers to turn off 16h Ave onto Steele St.
Happy to help work on this, as 16h Ave is one of my preferred bike connections from shops on Colfax Ave.
Perhaps the Blue Bird Business Improvement District would like to engage as well, & can even help to fund it.
Let me know what you think & if this is something you would like to try!
As you can see, there are already 239 idea submissions to the Participatory Budgeting Program, making it less & less likely for this to happen unless we do it ourselves.
Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson
