Subject: May 1st Deadline for City College Fellowships Program

Dear Colleagues,

Please help us recruit talented sophomores and juniors for the City College Fellowship (CCFELL), which supports undergraduates who aspire to gain admission to doctoral programs. In addition to academic guidance and participation in an interdisciplinary peer group of outstanding students, CCFELL offers significant financial support:

• $1800 semester stipends for each of four semesters;

•  Summer research stipends available by application;

• Monies for travel to academic conferences and to pursue research;

• GRE test preparation fees and doctoral application fees.

CCFELL aims to encourage the most talented CCNY undergraduates to enter Ph.D. programs and pursue careers in research and university teaching. Many excellent CCNY students do not see themselves as candidates unless they receive personal encouragement from professors like you.

ELIGIBILITY

• A minimum of 3.0 GPA and exceptional scholarly promise.
• Earned between 40 and 80 credits by the end of the semester in which the application is made (or have three to five semesters before graduation).
• A desire to matriculate in a Ph.D. program and to pursue a career in research and teaching at the college or university level.
• The intention to major in a discipline in the Humanities and Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, or Computer Science. (Students in other engineering fields, Architecture, and the Sophie Davis School are not eligible.)

Application materials include:

1. Undergraduate transcripts

2. Two letters of recommendation from faculty members
(Letters from faculty at other colleges are accepted.)

3. Essay

4. Application forms

(Students must complete the General Scholarship application as well as the specific application page for CCFELL, page #10.)
