Thismessage, "The file system is not clean, please..." is to notice the user to do the file system check to make sure the data integrity. Generally, it happens when the data volume is not un-mounted properly. It could be:

Please login QTS web page and go to Control Panel --> System Settings --> Storage Management --> Storage Space. At the right panel, please click on the storage pool to expand it. Select on the data volume and click [Manage] button. It will popup the data volume management dialog. Click [Actions] button and select Check File System to start the file system check.

If you encountered problems to run the filesystem check, like failed to umount volume, you may try to stop all qpkg services in AppCenter like below.

And reboot the NAS. Then run the filesystem check again.

If you still have the same issue after the file system check and reboot properly, you can download and apply the SafeShutdown QFix to your NAS.

This QFix is to make file system in safe/clean status when shutting down the system. Please be aware below information.

1. This QFix can be applied on the QTS version 4.2.0 or later version.

2. It is not necessary to apply this QFix after next official QTS firmware release. (after build20160114)

Sometimes I cannot resize my volumes as Filesystem is not clean. Please perform a check disk operation. However running the Check filesystem operation fails: Examination failed (Cannot unmount disk)

However, often it just doesn't help. Usually this is the case with the volume marked by QNAP as the system volume. Basically, when creating a first volume on the storage pool, QNAP marks it as the system volume, and puts there some data.

When i open qnap web admin page, it notifie me to check FS because is not clean. no problem to access data.

But i have cobian job witch copy data from partition D: to E: (iSCSI Drive)

the job finish (success) with File System errors (Not all folders or files).

i assume that the problem is on this space storage.

I think topology is clear.

I need to know how i can do chkdsk /F on iscsi drive, because when i run it on E: partition, it tell me to unmount drive..i never did this.

can i make this disk offline? if i do it i think it will be not displayed, so i can not run the command !

Now nas qnap has about 14 To of DATA, how can i do the check FS SAFELY ? as reminder, there are two (2) LUNs on it so nas qnap is target iSCSI for ESXi (few VMS not all) and is target iSCSI for windows server.

i need help to understand the best approach to do this operation safely.

I finally got my new QNAP NAS. After unboxing, installing hard drives, adding M.2 SSDs, expanding the RAM, and plugging in the cables, I am ready to share you the nine must-use settings for your QNAP NAS.

After logging in and adding your QNAP NAS to myQNAPcloud, you can remotely access your QNAP NAS using a dedicated link (for example: ). No networking expertise is required! Besides NAT traversal, myQNAPcloud can also help you generate your own second-level domain, such as yourID.myqnapcloud.com.

Significant system resources may be consumed when searching for specific files stored in your QNAP NAS. Indexing your files can greatly assist in optimizing the resource use of finding and accessing files. Generating thumbnails also helps for at-a-glance identification of multimedia files.

Command injection is an attack in which the goal is execution of arbitrary commands on the host operating system via a vulnerable application. Command injection attacks are possible when an application passes unsafe user supplied data (forms, cookies, HTTP headers etc.) to a system shell. In this attack, the attacker-supplied operating system commands are usually executed with the privileges of the vulnerable application. Command injection attacks are possible largely due to insufficient input validation.

This attack differs from Code Injection, in that code injection allows the attacker to add his own code that is then executed by the application. In Code Injection, the attacker extends the default functionality of the application without the necessity of executing system commands.

ps is used to check for current processes. 26472 is the PID (Process ID) of /mnt/HDA_ROOT/disk_manage.cgi in this case. You may learn more detail in PROCESS STATE CODES section in Man Pages PS(1) and a great post on ps aux output meaning on superuser. Here is a list to help you understand the symbols used by ps.

Because we know how it hacks, the first step is to upgrade to the latest Photo Station 5.4.1 (for QTS 4.3.x) and 5.2.7 (for QTS 4.2.x). Use App Center to update current version or download the latest from Photo Station page.

JarnoVanDerLinden found there is no autorun.sh and suspect an exploit related to Security Vulnerabilities Addressed in QTS 4.2.3 Builds 20170121 and 20170124 in his post on this thread. Therefore, even you have kill the process and remove the schedule task, it might happen again until you install the security patch.

However, due to the way the QNAP firmware updates crontab, it will be overwritten on the next reboot. Obviously, you want your automation to survive reboots, so edit the crontab file directly with your text editor:

In [求救] QNAP 中咗malware on HKEPC , TS-269H users reports high CPU utilization after installing/upgrading to the latest Malware Remover 2.1.2. Because of this, everything becomes extremely slow.

It has been reported by tcbyxx in #69 of this post that Malware Removal 2.1.3 is available to download which is not available in release note of Malware Remover yet. It has been tested by stevencheuk that everything goes back normal.

It is recommended to follow the instruction on An Urgent Fix on the Reported Infection of a Variant of GNU Bash Environment Variable Command Injection Vulnerability on QNAP by reinitialize NAS. They might also install other backdoors for future visit.

To stop eval(), you cannot use disable_functions because it is a language construct. eval() is not a function. You need Suhosin and check Suhosin HOWTOs: eval() and other language constructs for detail.

On March 2, 2021, 360Netlab Threat Detection System started to report attacks targeting the widely used QNAP NAS devices via the unauthorized remote command execution vulnerability (CVE-2020-2506 & CVE-2020-2507)[1], upon successful attack, the attacker will gain root privilege on the device and perform malicious mining activities.

We named the mining program UnityMiner, we noticed the attacker customized the program by hiding the mining process and the real CPU memory resource usage information, so when the QNAP users check the system usage via the WEB management interface, they cannot see the abnormal system behavior.

Our 360 FirmwareTotal system shows that the following models are affected by the vulnerabilities. The QNAP NAS installed Helpdesk app prior to August 2020 is affected. The following is the list of known models that could be vulnerable.

The mining program consists of unity_install.sh and Quick.tar.gz. unity_install.sh is used to download & set up & start the mining program and hijack the manaRequest.cgi program in the original device;

With two hard drive bays and up to two internal SSDs, the QNAP TS-264-8G offers a variety of backup and syncing options, plus it can act as a media streamer, file manager, VPN box, web development server, BitTorrent box, or security footage recorder simultaneously, while taking that load off your primary PCs.

A network-attached storage device, or NAS, is a small always-on computer generally used for backing up computers and serving files to devices on your local network. It includes at least one, but usually two or more, hard-drive bays, a Linux-based operating system optimized for network storage, and enough CPU power and RAM to do everything it needs to do while using far less power than a repurposed old computer.

A NAS is great if you have a large media library, because you can store your files in one place and stream them locally to computers, phones, tablets, speakers, or media centers throughout your house (or even outside it). A NAS is a useful tool for the people who need to store thousands of raw photo files, terabytes of raw video, gigabytes of digital music, or backups of their Blu-ray collection.

You should consider a NAS if you have more than one computer at home, since you can back them all up to the NAS rather than connect an external backup drive to each computer. And if you want to protect your data and backups from theft and natural disasters, a good NAS is capable of uploading files directly to a cloud backup service, too.

Most NAS devices can also act as email, database, and virtual private network (VPN) servers. You can use them for BitTorrent, to host CMS, CRM, and e-commerce software, or as DVRs for networked security cameras. A NAS is a computer, so it can do almost anything a Linux computer can do.

It includes a modern Intel Celeron processor, hardware-level encryption, and a flexible and easy-to-understand interface with a wide variety of third-party apps. The NAS supports media playback through its own apps or Plex Media Server, has dual hard drives that help save your data (RAID 1 drive mirroring), has four USB ports (including one on the front), has an HDMI port for connections to a monitor or TV, and supports features Wirecutter readers have asked about, such as VPN server capabilities, IP camera support, UPS compatibility, and SSDs.
