Shalin am so happy that the operation went well, and Trust God you will recover very soon I will be praying for you
I just want to inform you that am Back in Dar again. I thank God everything in Mtwara went very well and am so eager to know what is the next step for EASEN

About the course on Social Entrepreneurship, how much is the fee and is it held at the same time here in Tanzania?

Dear Janeth

Thank you for your well wishes and I too wish for a good recovery so I can return to Tanzania.

I am glad your assignment went well in Mtwara and would love to hear about it. I guess the next steps for EASEN are to engage the interns and to draw up a simple action plan. I guess we should really try to have a proper meeting to draft this with as many members on hand to take responsibility. Carlo has suggested that he will be visiting Tanzania in August and it might be worth waiting for him and perhaps he can confirm his itinerary.

Carlo do you have any suggestions on this front?

The course on Soc. Ent I think is virtual and one would need to contact I genius for the details on this as it's not very clear from the website.

Is there a possibility of the group meeting before long? I will not be back until mid-Sept as have a hospital follow up on 6 Sept and can only leave once get the all clear.

Warm regards

Dear Shalin

I talked to one of the interns yesterday  she is still waiting for the assignment

From the group any one with an idea how we go about it?

As for me I am free during the day except in the evening, If you have time I think is a good thing that we meet and discuss what to do next, so we wont loose so much time

Good Morning

Thank you for continued discussions and exploring various options of moving forward. I appreciate all you guys have done and am encouraged.

As mentioned earlier, EASEN is based on an entrepreneurship and membership model anchored on a university where possible.

To date, I feel Tanzania has not reached there because we are yet to have a sponsoring University or organization and also a person ready to steer the process.

In Kenya I have done the work and based at KCA University. In Uganda we now have Irene Mutumba leading and also anchored at Makerere University.

My trip to Tanzania can only happen if I have someone leading the process at and also if we are able to get a local University or other relevant institution to provide a base.

EASEN has no funds and all we are promoting is the idea. I have also been working hard to get others to join the Tanzania team but that has not happened. We do not want to go the NGO way where money is the driver. Rather we prefer the entrepreneurial way which takes long, requires sacrifice and investment in terms of resources and expertise. At the moment, I think most of you are tied and may not give the time necessary to drive EASEN. The interns may not help unless there is someone ready to support them. Looking at initial initiatives that do not require money may be a good start.

Shalin was doing very well but sadly he had to travel. We have the interns but they need a leader.

In view of the above, I may not travel this month but may wait for Shalin to return to Tanzania and pick it from there. But am flexible to hear other thoughts that you may have.

Kind regards

Dear Carlo

Thanks for the good thoughts and suggestions, i also think that people are too busy, But also waiting for Shalin it means it will take so long to speed up the process unless we want to launch EASEN next year

But I also believe that there are people who still can run the process as a start and Shalin can take from there rather than leaving the whole burden to shalin

Please people I believe you real want to promote social entrepreneurship, will any one volunteer to initiate the process while waiting for Shalin? In case of any followup am available, guys I believe we can do it

Carlo I dont know what you think about this as for me I still believe there is a chance for improvement as long as people are serious with EASEN

Best wishes

Dear Specioza

Thanks for the kind response and the persistence of Janeth.

That link would be great. You could send an email to the Director and copy me. You could explain that EASEN wants to establish a chapter in Tanzania and our model is to be linked to a university centre of entrepreneurship. In kenya we are linked with KCA University Centre of Entrepreneurship, in Uganda we are linked with Makerere University Business School Centre for Entrepreneurship. As a link and potential host, the centre can help provide a venue for an initial meeting where the concept of social entrepreneurship and social enterprises will be shared as well as what is happening in the region and globally.

Being a new concept, the link with university is helpful. If you have her telephone number I can follow up after you do the introduction. You can also send the attached brochure.

Thank you for the continued interest in making Social Enterprise and Social Entrepreneurship networking a reality in Tanzania.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it for the 12th Nov meeting. However, I will follow up with you on the action steps that will emanate from the meeting.

There are opportunities that we are following up and soon we shall be able to run programmes across the region.

We are happy to have the university support the process and I look forward to working closely with all of you.

Dear EASEN Tanzania Team

Thank you for the continued interest in making Social Enterprise and Social
Entrepreneurship networking a reality in Tanzania.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it for the 12th Nov meeting.
However, I will follow up with you on the action steps that will emanate
from the meeting.

There are opportunities that we are following up and soon we shall be able
to run programmes across the region.

We are happy to have the university support the process and I look forward
to working closely with all of you.

Kind regards

Dear Dr. Nchimbi,

I am writing to remind you about the meeting for EASEN Tanzania to be held on Saturday 12, 2011 at 11.00am at UDEC.  As per your earlier confirmation, I hope you will have time to be there with us even for a short time.  Your presence is crucial as EASEN seeks to establish linkages with UDEC.

Your presence to the meeting is much appreciated as will be crucial in providing us a direction for our future cooperation with UDEC.
May I once again request your confirmation for your attendance?
I look forward for your response.

With best regards

Dear all

I am sorry for being quiet for some time, I was very busy with my exams
But sadly i received a very tight schedule at work with the client which requires me to work on Saturday this week, which will make me unable to attend the meeting, But I have asked Eric to help me with the interns issue since I was busy with the exams, he have done what was required to do  and he will give you feedback during the meeting

I am not very happy for not attending the meeting while everything was going on well and sadly Mark is not going to be there either, what i suggest is that the meeting has still to be carried on even if some of the members wont be there so the process wont slow down

It is my believe that things will go as planned and the goal will be achieved as soon as possible

Thank you very mush for your efforts in bringing EASEN up
Kind regards
Janeth

Dear all,

I am quite committed to attend meeting on saturday. However i have some key visits upcountry and i shared this with Shalini.

I thought that it would have been critical for Carlos to have a meeting with University at this stage in order to ensure we dont loose momentum on the partnership with UDEC. Let me hope that this happen soon.

I think we need to agree on way forward to keep members motivation high, especially Shalini, Sp and Jan who have been running up and down to keep the fire and vision alive.

Dear all,
I wish to inform you that I have just had some talk with Dr. Nchimbi this morning and she informed me that she is at the moment in Mwanza attending an emergency of her very ill father.  Despite this, she was about to call the university to reserve a meeting room for us. She will return to Dar on Saturday, given the improvement of her father's condition.

Based on the reality that only three of us (Shalin, Erick and I ) have confirmed to attend and also that Dr. Nchimbi will not be available, I informed her not to make any arrangements for us.

I hope my decision will be acceptable to you.

Dear All

I agree with Specioza that the next EASEN meeting on 12 Nov. at UDEC should be cancelled as a result of the numbers able to attend. This is a set back as we were hoping to progress matters.
