The British Council is still looking for some one to fill the post of Head of Programmes. This post will provide oversight and direction to a country portfolio of operational programmes and to generate new project proposals, partnerships and business, in support of the British Council’s overall purpose. The post holder will manage a small team of experienced project managers.

Qualifications, skills and experience
· A first degree in education, social sciences or business related discipline
· A postgraduate qualification in a governance or education related discipline desirable
· At least 7 years relevant working experience in reputable, busy and client focused organisations.
· Good knowledge and hands-on experience of project design and management and process analysis
· Good knowledge and hands-on experience of strategic leadership, staff and team management
· Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of networking at high levels,
· Demonstrable good written and presentation skills
Duties
· To design, manage and/or deliver the regional and local programmes in leadership, education and the arts with high quality events and project outcomes. To manage programme expenditure budgets to target
· To lead and manage the programmes team to ensure effective delivery of services to our clients, programme participants and partners
· To develop networks, contacts and partnerships in relevant ministries, partner institutions and target audiences
· Contribute to the planning, management and implementation of the wider directorate’s strategic plans, taking responsibility to lead on agreed initiatives, to ensure outputs are achieved and targets and standards are met
· To generate income to target for our programmes through sponsorship and partnership
