I am glad you found the code useful.
Each developer used the IDE of their own choosing.
I currently use pycharm for most coding (python and javascript); I
think it is an excellent product.
And I use firebug for javascript debugging.
The only thing remotely resembling a consensus is that you really must
have firebug for any serious javascript work.

You can do this a number of ways.
You could install and tinker with each technology separately.
This approach will take a bit longer but you’ll understand it more fully.
You could also install a “package” or includes a subset of these technologies.
One such package is provided by opengeo.
http://opengeo.org/products/suite/
I have not followed this path but it might get you started more quickly.
You may have to install django and geodajngo separately.
