Hi,

I've recently updated to latest EW version, and slink2ew modules are dying very often.

I raised a bug report in gitlab, if any developer can please take a look:

I think may be related to latest commit: "Make all mseed functions return 0 if successful".

Over telemetry networks, unstable connections is a daily issue. IMHO, slink2ew should be rough enough to handle poor connections.

This is a log example when module dies:
-------------------------------------------------------
slink2ew_DOM: startup at UTC_20250927_21:54:59
This program is using the MT-Safe version of logit.

Thanks for the report, we'll investigate.

Thanks.

I tried to revert to previous slink2ew and keep the rest of the EW system up to date, but unfortunately I couldn't compile slink2ew module, as it seems it depends on older mseed libraries.
If anyone could guide me on how to revert only the slink2ew module, while keeping EW, appreciated.

Greetings Victor,

The easy way to do this is to grab the prior EW 7.10 version from http://www.earthwormcentral.org and compile it in a separate directory on the same machine, then simply copy the slink2ew that used Chad's old libmseed library (the V2 version) into the 8.0 bin directory over the one that comes with EW8.0. Should be easy enough to do and will work fine provided both are compiled with the same base libraries (which they will be).

Best regards,

Paul

Hi all!

Providing some feedback here. As Paul instructed, I rolled back to EW 7.10.1 slink2ew version. It is working perfectly now. All slink2ew modules are stable and do not die:

       slink2ew     832    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:36  in/slink2ew_JUN.d
       slink2ew     833    Alive         ??/ 0 00:05:30  in/slink2ew_RIM.d
       slink2ew     834    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:36  in/slink2ew_BAR.d
       slink2ew     835    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:36  in/slink2ew_CUR.d
       slink2ew     836    Alive         ??/ 0 00:03:10  in/slink2ew_FEA.d
       slink2ew     837    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:36  in/slink2ew_NEG.d
       slink2ew     838    Alive         ??/ 0 00:03:32  in/slink2ew_RAY.d
       slink2ew     839    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:36  in/slink2ew_PEN.d
       slink2ew     840    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:36  in/slink2ew_BFU.d
       slink2ew     841    Alive         ??/ 0 00:05:20  in/slink2ew_EMA.d
       slink2ew     842    Alive         ??/ 0 00:04:34  in/slink2ew_BRA.d
       slink2ew     843    Alive         ??/ 0 00:04:25  in/slink2ew_DOM.d
       slink2ew     844    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:37  in/slink2ew_AIL.d
       slink2ew     845    Alive         ??/ 0 00:02:15  in/slink2ew_TRO.d
       slink2ew     846    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:37  in/slink2ew_TIL.d
       slink2ew     847    Alive         ??/ 0 00:00:37  in/slink2ew_CHO.d

As a reference, this is is the version that works fine:
slink2ew version 3.1

This version fails:
slink2ew version 4.2 2024-12-03

And this version fails too:
slink2ew version 4.3 2025-02-07

I will provide this feedback in the gitlab repo too. I think this bug is a serious issue.

Thanks

May I inquire the changes made in slink2ew version 4.? versus slink2ew 3.0?  Is it advisable to update module that came with v7.10 2019-08-13?
