Dear Earthworm Community Forum,

I am reaching out to seek advice on how to transmit information from SeisComP to Earthworm.

Recently, I have been working on setting up a comprehensive EEW system that integrates SeisComP and Earthworm. My objective is to swiftly transmit earthquake origin information calculated by SeisComP through an automated process, utilizing SeisComP modules to connect with Earthworm modules.

I would like to inquire if it's feasible to expedite message transmission by connecting SeisComP modules with Earthworm modules. Additionally, I am seeking guidance on the steps to follow for this process.

Your assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The obvious first approach would be to use file2ew and a file based injection, but you may need to augment file2ew to recognize the new message type you are trying to inject.

Best regards,

Paul

There is the module ew2sc to get paremetric information and the seedlink
plugin ewexport/ewexport_pasv to receive waveform data from Earthworm to
put it in SeisComP. To go the other way, slink2ew can connect to a
SeisComP seedlink server to bring in waveform data. But there is no
route to bring SeisComP solutions into Earthworm that already exists.
qml2aqms can take a SeisComP QuakeML solution and push it into the
earthworm-based AQMS database system, but if you want to push into
Earthworm, you'd probably want to write a parser for QuakeML, or use
ObsPy to do the parsing, and then output into arc file format that
Hypoinverse typically outputs... So looking at the header file for
hyp_2000mgr might be a starting point to create the output file.. which
then you could use file2ew to do what you want.

Dear Paul and Stefan,

I want to express my gratitude for your clear explanations regarding the communication of data between Earthworm and SeisComP.

I will further explore using file2ew to transfer SeisComP data to Earthworm.

Thank you both for your guidance.

Best regards,
Guan-Yi, Song
