I just switched earthworm to a new computer running Windows 10 and ew7.9, and am having some problems.  The computer has the same I.P. and ports, and I'm using the same parameter files.

1) The Webtronics digitizer is blinking 3 times per second.  What does this mean?  (I can't find any info on the web).

2) Adsend status shows as "NoExec"

3) Waveserver listens for a bit, then quits.

4) Statmgr gives log message: "statmgr msg from unknown module  (statmgr doesn't have a .desc file for this one)"

Hints on how to diagnose what's wrong?

Thanks...... -=- Robert Clayton -=-

This means the digitizers is not communicating with the PsnAdSend module. The LED
should blink at a 1Hz rate once you get the module talking to the digitizer.

You should be running my PsnAdSend module, not the Adsend module.

Check the PsnAdSend log file. My guess is the module is not seeing the digitizer do
to a Comm Port number change from your old system. The first thing to do is open the
Device Manager and check that the system has assigned a Comm Port to the digitizer.
If you are using a serial port on the system they normally are assigned device names
like COM1, COM2 etc. You may need to install a USB driver if you are using a USB ADC
board or a Serial to USB adapter. The USB version of my digitizer used a FTDI USB
chip. You can download the driver from here
https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm. Once the system sees the digitizer update
the PsnAdSend.d file with the correct Comm Port number.

Can't help you here. As always check the log files... Until you get things working I
would do the following:

1. Disable the Windows firewall.
2. Disable any Anti-Virus programs.
3. Make sure you log into the system using an Administrator account. All of the EW
modules should be running with Admin privileges.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help, Larry!

Solved those problems, still have others:

Sniffwave shows I'm recording data correctly, but Swarm can't show any data and it's not being exported.  I've checked that the correct ports are set up for incoming and outgoing data and I.P. addresses are correct.  I can ping the computer with no data loss from inside and outside our university network.

eqproc dies with log file error "eqproc: Output pipe error; exiting"

And so eqbuf logs the error "

20181109_UTC_15:51:05 pipe_put error from SendMsg in eqbuf
20181109_UTC_15:51:05 eqbuf: Output pipe error; exiting
20181109_UTC_15:51:22 Error releasing the mutex semaphore."

Heli_ewII says error from Waveserver, but waveserverV doesn't log any errors.

It seems like there's just a problem getting data correctly out of the ring, but I don't know where to look from here.

I'd appreciate any hints & pointers!

You've got a number of questions, but not that much information to go on
for us to try and help you.

What is the error heli gets?

What does
getmenu <yourcomputer_hostname>:<waveserver port>
show when you run it?

Are you filtering out data that's coming into the wave server because
you are looking for data from one MOD_ but receiving it from another? If
you included the .d files and the error logs it might help.

for the eqproc, again logs and .d files would help

Stefan,

here's what heli's error says:

Can you send your wave_serverV.d file? And also send some output from
sniffwave so we can see some channel names. sniffwave SOME_RING v
with the V so we can see what modules are sending the data to the ring.

Can you try put in
LogFile 1
to see if we can get more logging?

1056 is greater than your packet size of 864, but just to test try
changing 1056 to the maximum size of a Tracebuf, 4096.

Also, if you make any changes to the wave server v file, best practice
is to:

- shut down wsv
- delete the index .str files
- delete ALL the tank files (yes, if you have any data collected, you'll
lose it all here)
- start wsv back up

config changes you make may not be picked up if you don't delete the
tanks and struct files.
