Partnering with the Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Friends of the Fells, Earthwise Aware (EwA) will lead much-needed Invasive Flora Documentation patrols at two locations in the Middlesex Fells Reservation.
Volunteer Tasks
Identify and document specific invasive species along designated trail sections. If you're new to identifying invasive flora, don't worry; we'll provide training on how to identify and document several common invasive species using the EwA Invasive Flora Patrol survey app. This activity is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 13 and older.
Please note that volunteers must bring their own cell phone to participate in the invasive species documentation. We recommend installing the EwA survey app before the event (Instructions). If you don't have a phone, you're still welcome to observe the documentation process and receive invasive species identification training.
When: Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Event Locations
1 Woodland Road, Stoneham, MA 02180
300 Elm Street, Meddfor, MA 02155
Participants will also have the opportunity to join the Friends of the Fells events later at either location, including a garlic mustard invasive cleanup at Virginia Woods and a trash pickup at Flynn Rink.
We look forward to seeing you there!
