EwA Insect Photo Survey Training (Recording, Slides & Resources)
Thanks to all of you who could join our first insect survey training (#1), here focused on how to photo document in the context of the EwA Insect Survey Program.
We loved having you with us! Here's what Claire covered (w / access to slides and recording) ā
Synopsis
Ā
What we cover with this training (duration: ~ one hour):- We touch on COVID 19 protocol (as it is time and site-dependent, this will be detailed in our field training)
- We show you the EwA site map and the transects
- We share a few tips about how to take great pics/observations that are scientifically valuable and hot to upload them on iNaturalist
- We brush on wildlife ethics pertaining to the study of insects so that we don't disturb them more than necessary (details in the field training)
Most importantly, the presentation is a resource for our citizen scientists: click on links to see all the details, and don't hesitate to ask any questions in our forums.
How to Participate in our Insect Surveys
We need You! - Help us help them! EwA runs different projects for you to participate in and make a difference for our friendly urban insects!
If you are interested in conducting insect occurrence, abundance, and habitat surveys at any of EwA's site locations of your choice (see below): Join EwA (Earthwise Aware) a few times a month to survey insects. EwA particularly focuses on entomofauna (insect life), so that they can compare species occurrences and population trends between sites in the region.
