We've been quiet but busy...

EwA Fieldwork. First, thanks to our interns and citizen scientists who were in the field with us this week. Plants are quiet out there but as spring is coming up to 20 days earlier than normal in the South, we want to make sure that when spring hits here we can catch the first bud bursts. Birds-wise it's not that quiet: Love is in the air! Red-winged blackbirds have returned. The males are here preparing for the coming of the female. Mourning doves are cooing, downies are chasing each other... Much to see and enjoy!

On the right, a pair of doves spying on me while I am writing this week's recap

Additional to recording phenology we're also preparing our sites for our 3-season insect surveys. We intend to add some plant phenology where we don't already track that. We've added a few species to monitor in the Fells. And, we're waiting for our permit to also resume the documentation of vernal pools in the Fells.

There's the recap of this week Fell's field work > Climate & Wildlife Watch Log

City Nature Challenge 2020. One more thing: we're preparing for this year's City Nature Challenge (an international nature survey friendly competition). We're part of the steering committee for the greater Boston area and that keeps us busy.

Local Environmental Action 2020. Oh wait... One last thing: We remind you that we will be at the LEA 2020 tomorrow, where we'll be hosting a table. Stop by and say hi!
