I recently went on one of the bi-weekly walks with Earthwise-Aware, and there was lots of focus on fungal life identification (OK, it's winter). This book came up as a selection on a long drive recently for audibles, and I thought it relevant to the group. Good for folks like me that need to be able to engage in the subject-matter but have just a layperson's science background.

Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds & Shape Our Futures is a 2020 non-fiction book by biologist Merlin Sheldrake that explores the hidden world of fungi, revealing their crucial role in ecosystems, human history, and potential solutions for environmental and health challenges. The book covers fungi's ability to connect plants via the "Wood Wide Web," their role in medicine (like penicillin and psychedelics), their capacity to break down pollutants, and how they challenge our understanding of intelligence and individuality. It's a New York Times bestseller that won the Royal Society Prize for Science Books.
