It's hot out there, so some sessions might be rescheduled. Be sure to contact the site leader of the location you plan to visit to confirm the time, in case it has been shifted to a cooler part of the day.

As always, we remain active across all our study sites. Also to flag for you: this Saturday's Forest explorations with Bill and Joe, and our table at the Woburn Green Fest this Sunday. Come see us there. We’ll have a few ecology activities and will be showcasing our insect and plant documentation apps.

Come explore, learn, and contribute. No experience needed. We will guide you. All you need is curiosity, a sharp eye, and respect for nature.

👉 Check our schedule below. Be sure to contact the site leader to confirm your attendance, get weather updates, and stay informed about any schedule changes. Come prepared by installing our participatory science platform and joining EwA Pheno Lite, EwA Trail Report, or any other projects that interest you (instructions here).

📌 Stay updated: Visit our Google Event Calendar for full details and any last-minute additions.

We look forward to exploring with you! 🌱

📷 Banner Pic: 🪸 We often come across dead man's fingers in the forest, a species from the Xylaria genus. But here in the Provincetown area, I have been seeing another organism with the same common name, also known as green sea fingers and oyster thief. Its French name matches its scientific one, Codium fragile, and it turns out to be just as intriguing. Dead man's fingers is a green alga native to the Pacific Ocean near Japan. It has become a widespread and problematic invader in coastal habitats around the world, including the northeastern United States and Canada. Unlike most seaweeds, Dead man's fingers is siphonous and coenocytic. Its finger-like fronds are composed of interwoven filaments that form a single giant cell. These filaments share one continuous internal space with many nuclei and have no internal cell walls. This unusual structure gives it a spongy, velvety texture and allows it to recover quickly from fragmentation, a trait that helps make it a highly successful invasive species.xxx
