A reminder to all that the  Protect Animals from Rodenticide Lobby Day is next week! (July 24). Join us! 

This is your chance to join other wildlife advocates having face-to-face meetings with their legislators in the Massachusetts State House. Want more details about what a Lobby Day is? Check out the Guide to Lobby Days

EwA will be present to raise attention to the EwA Rat Poison Brigade's effort to help document the problem and its impact on Wildlife. (📸 Banner photo is a Rat Poison Brigade record: confirmed AR poisoning of a Cooper's Hawk [Record details])

Location: Massachusetts State House, “Great Hall”, 24 Beacon Street, Boston, MA  

9:30-10:30 am: Arrive and Check-in (plan for extra time for traffic, parking, and security)

10:30-11:30 am: Kick-Off and Forum where you will meet Red-tailed Hawk “Falco” from the New England Wildlife Center and hear from the bill’s sponsors Representative Jim Hawkins and Senator Michael Moore 

11:30 am-12:00 pm: Meet & Greet and Exhibition with legislators visiting tables hosted by local groups and organizations from across the state

12:00-3:30 pm: Legislator Meetings

Please register by July 10 so we can schedule meetings in small groups by district with your state legislators. Registrants will receive a Lobby Day toolkit, complete with a full schedule of the day, invitations to trainings, information about the State House, and instructions for participation.

📷 Banner: Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii). Rat Poison Brigade record logged 2025-01-04. Whole Foods Parking Lot, Mass Ave, Arlington MA. Entry was created on behalf of Toshia McCabe (finder and photographer) and Laura Kiesel of Save Arlington Wildlife. A Cooper's Hawk was found dead on a mulched flower bed. Blood traces were found along the bird's beak. The hawk was taken to HEAL Vet in Watertown for a necropsy and anticoagulant rodenticide testing. The record is update with AR test results entered in the Brigade (record details).
