Previous EwA Phenology Digests explored forest tree species, but this year's edition shifts focus to an aspect of EwA's urban phenology initiative. EwA phenology leaders and authors Jennifer Clifford and Kathy McGlathery crafted this report around the native wildflower, the purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), and its insect visitors observed at the Somerville Community Growing Center's native plant garden. In addition to presenting essential data, we delve into the 'why', 'what', and 'how' of our climate-centric program, illuminating our research findings and the external or partner utilization of our data. A heartfelt thank you to EwA's participatory scientist community for their unwavering dedication! With the release of this final digest, EwA's 2023 conservation series comes to a close.
