Dear EwA Friends,
Two upcoming events, a webinar tutorial and a field training, will provide
important information as to why we care about the presence of invasive
plants in the city and what we can do to make a meaningful impact. Feel
free to share with others who may be interested. Thank you!
Join Earthwise Aware to learn
more about our Invasive Flora Monitoring Project. Learn how you can
help supplement EwA's biodiversity and climate studies, informing
ecological assessments and management strategies for sensitive areas.
"Documenting Invasive Flora in Urban Spaces: Driving Impactful Remediation Actions"
Tutorial: April 23, 2026 5:00 PM (ET)
Everyone is welcome to attend this tutorial session to learn about EwA’s
Invasive Flora Patrol (IFP) project and how to use the IFP app to
further our understanding of invasive species in our region. It is easy
and fun! We will review some of the common species observed in our
neighborhoods, provide general tips and resources for timely removal,
explore data using examples from the city of Somerville, and discuss how
this data can potentially impact city policy toward invasive plant
species management.

Field training: May 3, 2026 2:00 PM (ET)
For
those who want hands-on practice in plant identification,
data collection with the IFP app, removal, and replanting. Join us in
documenting invasive flora to inform remediation actions in the Greater
Boston Area. Community participation is essential
in tracking invasive flora and mitigating their impact. By using
technology and working together, we can take meaningful conservation
actions that protect our urban ecosystems.
