EwA invites you to join our second annual memorial walk in honor of our dear friend and benefactor, Daniel “Dan” Onea. 📅 March 22 | 9:30 AM 📍 Deer Island (details on Eventbrite) Dan was a keen observer, skilled photographer, and devoted naturalist, and Deer Island was one of his favorite places to explore. EwA naturalists Bill and Joe MacIndewar, Laura Roberts, Peter Alden (naturalist and author), and I will co-lead this walk. We will celebrate Dan’s legacy by slowing down together to notice, document, and appreciate the coastal wildlife of the harbor, especially the birds, with the same care and curiosity he brought to every outing. Dan's generosity continues to shape EwA’s mission. In his memory, we invite you to support the EwA Onea Ecology Internship and the EwA Onea Research Fellowship, a mentorship program created in his honor. There is no minimum contribution, so cost should not be a barrier for anyone who would like to participate in the walk. After the walk, all who are interested are welcome to gather for lunch nearby to share naturalist and community stories, reflections, and connections inspired by the morning. Whether you knew Dan well, only in passing, or are just now learning about him and his legacy, you are warmly invited to join and help strengthen our community. 🧡 Can’t attend but want to further his legacy? You can make a donation in Dan's name [here]. |
