🌿 Exciting Update from EwA's Phenology Program! 🌿 We're thrilled to share the 2024 data summary for the Earthwise Aware Local Phenology Program, prepared by our valued partner, the USA National Phenology Network (USA-NPN). This report focuses on the incredible dataset we’ve collected together up to the end of 2023 through our surveys using Nature’s Notebook, USA-NPN’s powerful platform for phenology monitoring. Conducted in Middlesex County, this effort has seen our amazing community of participatory scientists contribute more than 512,354 phenophases across 25 sites, covering over 140 species—a truly remarkable achievement! ⚠️ Note: This is a statistical report, with a strong emphasis on data and trends rather than narrative interpretation. The trends identified are preliminary, as we are still a few years short of the 10-year minimum typically required to draw robust climate-related conclusions. Additionally, Pheno Lite data is not addressed in this report, as it is distinct from the NPN program. However, its importance cannot be overstated. Discussions with USA-NPN reaffirmed this by confirming they plan to propose a similar, albeit less comprehensive, approach in the future. This is fantastic news for us, as it validates our methodology and will facilitate data aggregation between NPN and Pheno Lite in the years to come. A heartfelt thank-you to USA-NPN for their collaboration and to our dedicated community for your unwavering commitment. Let’s keep this momentum going in 2025! Your efforts are crucial for advancing biodiversity science and inspiring local conservation action. 💡 Interested in contributing to this vital work?
