Hi everybody,

We have a new beta release for you. This should work for everyone, but it will restrict downloads if you are new and I haven't gotten and inputted your device ID.

Please let us know how this works for you. There are some obvious changes, like the compass overlay, but we also overhauled the map downloading infrastructure, and we hope that works better for people who were having trouble.

Ho do I get my device ID inputed.  Currently I can only download 50 tiles at a time.

You just need to send it to and...@earthnc.com.

You can retrieve it as follows:

   - 1. Tap *Settings* from the Home screen. 

   - 2. Scroll toward the bottom and tap *About phone*. 

   - 3. Tap *Status*. 

   - 4. Scroll down and the IMEI/MEID number is listed there.

Thanks for all your comments and reports so far, and please keep posting your thoughts to the list. FYI, we are going to wrap up a v1.0 release pretty quickly. We are shooting to add "waypoint guidance," clean up the art a bit, and then we'll push the first release. We'll still have a lot to work to do after that though, and there will be steady release for a while.

I would like to report back on the testing based on the beta2
release. Note this is on a droid 1 phone, which was running android
2.1 for a while, then upgraded to 2.2. No issues seen at all after
phone OS upgrade to 2.2, so compliance looks good.

I've tried 3 large (very close to 10k tile limit for all of them) map
downloads on wifi, 2 finished fine with no problems. One failed about
1/2 way through, but then resumed fine (long press on the failed map
to get that option).

I haven't had a chance for a large amount of on water testing, but it
does find position, and accurately places position on the charts
through various zoom levels.

I like the new naming for the function to keep your position centered
on the chart

I am currently locked out of earthNC app with the following error:
The application Earth NC (process
com.trailbehind.android.earthnc.beta) has stopped unexpectedly.
Please try again. Force close button.

This persisted across a phone reboot. Please LMK what steps I should
take to send you debug info.

If its the same issue I have on my Droid x The only fix is uninstalling then reinstall... but it seem to lock me out when playing with waypoints

Seems to to be pointing in that direction,problem is that when it locks up there is no record to send ,so they have to try to duplicate it... ,Only fix is un instal delete old maps in phone storage. Then reinstall.   No reason not to play because of waypoints......

FYI, we are not sure why this locked up for you two on the latest beta update, but we're still investigating.

Should have Guide to Waypoint tomorrow or so, and a fix for this too if we find it.
