I had a player tell me the other day that he noticed that my NPCs are
all really tall and really powerful. Hmm ... can't get much more
obvious than that. But in his defense, that's because I have not
introduced a lot of NPCs to the group, but there is one that breaks
that rule ... Amil. Amil is a short skinny guy. Heh, anyways, there
are good reasons that Slaen and Cadrach are as tall as they are ... and
... it's ... r ... e ... l ... a ... t ... e ... d.

Oooh ... some more sub seven foot tall NPCs that the Players in my
current campaign know.

The Windrunner - a wooden airship in the Throal Navy. It's a galley
class ship measuring 150 feet long and 45 feet at its widest. It has
three masts. The main mast is over 130 feet above the main deck. She
has been in service for the last 10 years.

Captain Khalan is slender for a dwarf and stands just a tad bit over 4
feet tall. He has light brown hair and a short beard, cut almost
rogueishly in style with light grey eyes. He is obviously happiest
when sailing the open skies. He has been an officer aboard the
Windrunner for the last six years.

First Mate Toril Ironhand is a young troll and has served Captain
Khalan the last 2 years. Toril is the disciplinarian of the ship. He
is aware that most of the crew don't like him, but they do respect him.
When something needs to get done, you turn to him and he gets it done.
Standing well over eight feet tall and weighing about 500 or so
pounds, Toril is an imposing giant aboard the ship. Unlike most of his
kind, Toril wears his black coarse hair cut quite short in the military
fashion with a short neatly trimmed beard.

Master Lormar is the ship's quartermaster and quite the curmudgeon.
Broad, even for a dwarf, so the rest of the crew whispers. Master
Lormar takes care of the financials for the ship and its crew,
including any members of the Throal Expeditionary Force who are by
default members of the Arm of Throal, the military force of the kingdom
of Throal. Usually he can be found in his quarters scowling through
his tangle of dark red beard at the books. He also supervises the
provisioning of the ship in both foodstuffs for the crew and supplies
for repairing the ship. On the side he uses the ship's forge to make
repairs to weapons for the crew and on occassion and for a little
something extra he'll take care of forging your weapon up a notch or
two.

Forim Latisin is the Chief Engineer aboard the Windrunner and the
magician in charge of maintaining it's fire cannons. Unusually
friendly and curious as a cat. Forim is young but talented at his
craft and enjoys puzzles of all kinds, especially the ones that involve
magic. He works with Master Lormar when it comes to forging weapons as
he possesses the Immortal Blade spell to make the Forge Weapons
improvement permanent. Like Master Lormar he is not above taking a
little money on the side to do such a task.

Golak Magul is one of the only orks on board the Windrunner and to this
day can't tell you how he ended up as the ship's cook, but there he is
and there he'll probably be until the end of his days. His cooking is
like his looks, oily and smelly. But it keeps the crew alive and
healthy enough and there have been rare occassions where he has turned
out something a little different from his menu and really surprised the
crew.

Captain Biram is the Armsmaster for the Windrunner and his rank is for
the infantry not the navy so while on board the Windrunner, he takes
his orders from Captain Khalan. Captain Biram is a quiet,
introspective sort who does most of his talking with the expressions on
his face than with fancy words. The solid dependable sort, just the
kind of man you want leading the dwarven marines on board the
Windrunner. Probably the oldest member of the crew.
