“This past weekend was as good as it gets in the kelp forests of Monterey Bay—ocean sunfish (Mola mola) patrolling the dropoffs, rockfish schools lazily hiding among the columns of the kelp cathedral, millions of pyrosomes washing up with the currents among the other jellies; and all of it bathed in the clear jade-blue waters of coastal California at its best.”
