Hello!

I created my first Google Earth Project and would love to hear any feedback you have to offer. It takes students through a virtual expedition of seven places in the world where people are working to create a sustainable future. I incorporated essential questions and videos from Great Big Story to inspire students to start thinking about the changes they can make in their communities.

I'm going to share it with my students on Monday as part of my resources and activities for our Earth Day/Week events.

Hi Rachel,

Loved the project !

It gives a good overview of what's being done around the globe while keeping it dynamic.
One idea could be to add some street view slides to the project (similar to what you did in slide 4), it helps students connect with the place you are focusing on.

I'd be curious to know how you'll share the project with students ? Is it a presentation or do you let them navigate the project on their own? What type of activities do you have in mind ?

Have a nice day !
Bastien

Hello Rachel,

This is awesome! I love the positive outlook of researching ways people/communities are working to be sustainable. Talking about pollution and climate change can be distressing and overwhelming. May I use your project with my biology classes? I am collecting resources about these topics and I want my students to create Earth stories. Yours is a great example. Thank you!

Hi Rebecca,

I am glad to hear you found this project useful. Yes, please feel free to share with your students. I'd love to see the Earth stories they end up creating.

Best,

Rachel

Hi Bastien,

Thank you for taking the time to view my project. I posted a link to it on my library website and encouraged students to explore it on their own. I hope it will inspire them to think about changes we can make in our community to create a more sustainable future.

I like your suggestion about including more street views. I will look into adding more of this feature into future projects.

My best,
Rachel
