Hi #EarthEdu Community,

This is a hectic time for many, as we're experiencing major disruptions to our work and lives due to COVID-19. Many educators are already doing distance instruction, while others are being asked to pivot to virtual as soon as possible.

In the spirit of supporting one another during these difficult times, please share ANY helpful resources you have for distance learning, virtual instruction, best practices, or good self care! Community is especially important during times of crisis and difficulty, so don't be afraid to lean on this community and your other PLNs (professional learning networks) for support!

Below are just a few resources that we're aware of. I hope that you'll add to this list with more resources and/or words of advice!

- Google for Education | Edu on Air series on Distance Learning. You can either attend live (with Q&A) or watch a recording on your own time.
- Youtube Learning Hub is a great archive of educational videos.

- Newsela is offering free access to the entire product suite for the rest of the 2019/2020 school year. This is especially helpful for students finding credible news sources in a chaotic 24-hr news cycle.

What others articles/tools have helped you? What do you still need to learn?

Take care,
Lina, on behalf of the Google Earth Education Community

Thanks for sharing Annie! How is everyone doing? What are some challenges you're facing, or small wins you've experienced? Please share sites or tools that are helping you during this time of distance learning. The Google for Education Teacher Center has specific resources re: strategies/tech and PBS Learning Media is great for content.

One tip that's been swirling around: if possible, carve out 15 mins of your day where you do a coffee check-in/wellness chat with a colleague and/or friend. This can be a quick video chat or a phonecall. This is a very stressful time with new changes every day, so making time to connect with someone in your professional network for words of encouragement and general advice can be super helpful. You can use this time to "talk shop" (i.e a quick download of the lessons you're working on, specific challenges, etc) or simply to chat about how you're doing (again the idea here is to help release some stress, rather than create more).

Hope this helps!
