the sources in parens are specific microfilms
I have been researching my elusive German ancestors at the local LDS
Family Research Center, less than 10 minutes from my house. I'll see
if I can get the microfilms with the digitized parish registers --
Takes a week or two if they don't have to be backordered -- surely
more decipherable than trying to translate Gothic German Script and
Latin from the German church books? Anybody have some specific
lookups from the areas mentioned above?? I know there are lots of
Earsmans and Earsemans in the Moffat register. That's the one I'll
order first.
If this can be verified, it might get us all puzzling again as to the
origins of the name -- maybe we did ride horses! maybe we were
herdsmen! (I hope we didn't drive hearses) There are lots of Horsman
and Horseman entries in closeby areas. And it might change the
branching -- the Moffat line might go farther up than we thought.
This is more challenging than solving crosswords and sudoku puzzles--
I just wish there was an answer key in the back of the book!
The latest download in the File section is really helpful -- and, as
usual, answers some questions and raises others. MANY Thanks
