I/we have had no communication with Dave on Earn-a-bike though I seem to recall hearing/reading that he is still interested.

It seems that a restructuring/formalizing of the “group” should happen so that one person, you, or a small group of the whole doesn’t get accused of acting inappropriately. That’s one of the reasons to have some formalized/written/agreement about who does what, what the activities are to be, etc.

SDCBC needs some clarity for this stuff before lending it’s name, handing out or even receiving money… and it’s standard/good practice/way to proceed – soooo…

You are the major mover so far (or should David be?). What can you or he make happen to, for instance, have a list of who is involved – names and contact info, what the group wants the group to get done/to do and who will do these things, what is the process for making decisions, who can ask for and be responsible for stuff like money from or through the Coalition? Sort of basic, yes old-fashioned but seems to work, ways for people to do things together…

Thanks for offering your truck. I get what you are saying about how if we sell any bikes the funds would need to go into the acount. I am not sure about the last part of your email. I assume that currently this person would be Dave Chernay?

I have a small pickup truck I use for hauling stuff… like a bunch of bikes.

I as interim SDCBC ExecDir consider that your accepting donated bikes for clean up and sale or donation to benefit the program is ok…

Funds, if any, should likely best be handled through the SDCBC. Julie Hocking is the Treasurer and could handle deposits and, with authorization, payouts for expenses, etc.

More can happen when/if Earn-a-Bike/Bikes-de-Pueblo establishes an organization – consensus works, but someone needs to be able/authorized to “sign the checks”/authorize expenses reimbursement, purchases, actions, etc. Ok?

A fellow, I think the name is Pedro, from Juvenile Hall has offered to donate 10 bikes – I know nothing about him, Juvi or the bikes… just got a hard to hear voice-mail message…

Please contact him on my behalf/SDCBC and earn-a-bike/bikes-de-pueblo and if the bikes are something we/you can use and/or sell or? Go get ‘em!

I could provide a tax donation letter if he/they want. I’d need some estimate of the value of the bikes and to whom to make the letter to.

His number is either 858 or 619 area code; 694-4755.

Good luck.

Jim,

It has been going excellently and we will be sending over a proposal by Wednesday for the board meeting next week (hope that this is timely enough)! Would you mind connecting me with the new executive director so that I can submit it directly to him? You're help was invaluable and we have a dedicated team of 8 amazing people who are committed to getting a space by May 1st.

I am starting a PRE/TEEN GRRL BIKE CLUB now. It is time and I feel confident that it will work just perfectly. I'd love to chat with you about it though. You available tomorrow to chat?

xx

Dear Jim, Thanks for the Introduction!

Hi Everyone:

We would like to invite you to a meet and greet on Tuesday March 8th at 7pm where we will begin devising a proposal for the March 23rd Bicycle Coalition Board Meeting.  If you cannot make the dinner and you are still passionate about a Bicycle Co-Op in San Diego feel free to call me or send over drafts of previous proposals.

Our main goal is to identify a space so that the work of Bikes Del Pueblo with immigrants and refugees can expand into a bike co-op that serves all of San Diego. We are envisioninga bike friendly community center with opportunities for people of all ages to become more bike savvy.

In order for this to be a reality we have to work together.  Your experience is invaluable to our process so that we don't have to "re-invent" the wheel.

Tuesday March 8th, 7pm, bring something fresh local and organic to share
2754 Snowdrop, San Deigo
