i optained the model of LM2903 directly from tis website. With OrCADs model editor i created a .lib and a .olb file. After library import in capture, i place the model in my schematic and start the simulation.

The .lib file you created in not in your .sim file. You need to add the path to the .lib file into your simulation profile. Simply choose PSpice --> Edit Simulation profile --> Configuration Files --> Library --> Browse and select the location of the .lib file. Click on Add to Design and click on OK and the simulation profile should be updated. Re-run the simulation and it should simulate properly.

HIII Guys...I hv a small query regarding orcad capture symbol editor..As i create any SYMBOL the pins are not moving smoothly though i uncheck the SNAP TO GRID option in the settings..I disbale the GRIDS option too and tried other things but unable to resolve the issue..The pins of any IC i am creating doesnt moving smoothly...

Why would they? The theory is: Pins are on the grid in the Part, the Part is placed on the grid in the schematic and, therefore, wiring to the pins does not involve any challenge requiring "exact" placement to make connections. You could make things a lot harder with some more effort.

By "any type" I referred to analog & digital circuits both. If circuit designing can be done by OrCAD then why a seperate platform like Virtuoso Schematic Editor? Also I am unable to find a circuit design forum of OrCAD. So I posted under PCB Design. What are the advantages of Allegro over OrCAD?

Some years back OrCad was a separate company that has been around for many years and was bought by Cadence. OrCad was Schematic capture but had its own PCB tool called PCB Layout. The Cadence PCB layout tool was called Allegro and was very high end in capabilities and cost. After the merger, Cadence offered multiple bundles of OrCad/Allegro combination with a limited functionality Allegro tool being referred to as PCB Designer. After version 16.2, Cadence stopped supporting the original Orcad PCB Layout tool in place of their own.

PSpice has and is a separate company and tool that has been around for many years. Cadence bundles it, for simulation, with their Orcad packages now under the license name of EE Designer. They also offer bundles with HDL Designer for schematic editor instead of the OrCAD Capture schematic editor.

Now, Virtuoso is their latest offering of a bundled suite of tools. I am not familiar with those. All I can really recommend is go to the website and look around for comparative "feature charts" of the various tool suites.

In my opinion, Allegro and Orcad Layout are not in the same league. Allegro is a high end tool and Layout is more of a Low to mid range tool. Which is best for you? That depends on what you are designing and your budget.

The problem comes when I try to launch Model Editor, either standalone or from within Capture. It will not launch and gives me the error message "The library path is not configured. Please check your product installation."

Start Capture and open a PSpice project, possibly the Example from tools\pspice\capture_samples\anasim\example might be best, then use PSpice>Edit Simulation Profile, on the Configuration Files tab, select "Library" at the upper right, Library Path at the lower centre of that form is likely to be empty, it should be set to the installation path and the PSpice library location, the default would be C:\Cadence\SPB_16.6\tools\pspice\library. Give that a try as first pass.(This setting gets stored to the "pspice.ini" file in the installation.)

I followed your instuctions and opened the sample project in Capture, and checked the Library Path. It was set correctly to ""C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.6_Lite\tools\PSpice\Library" Unfortunately, still got the same error message when I tried to launch the Model Editor. Other applications such as Magneticdesigner seem to launch just fine.

Hello. Starting from hotfix 050 (rare crashes) to hotfix 052 (often) capture crashes while loading projects with pspice templates. If i delete these templates from HDD everything is ok. And when i close the project before exiting then loading of the same project seems to be ok. Our admin tried reinstalling the software but no success. What could solve the issue? Your help is highly appreciated

OrCAD Capture schematic entry tool for circuit diagrams is one of the world's most widely used software for entering and documenting electrical circuits. It is outstanding how simple and intuitive the design intentions are captured. OrCAD Capture uses flat or hierarchical circuit diagrams. Via the navigation window the different pages of the circuit diagram can be selected and thematically managed.

Using the PartBrowser, circuit diagram symbols are selected with the aid of filters from the library and placed in the circuit diagram. The electrical connections (networks) between the associated component pins can be quickly established. In the case of hierarchically structured designs, the same electrical networks are interconnected via cross-porting ports or defined as global networks.

Variants are defined in the schema editor and later output as variants with different parts lists for each variant. In OrCAD Capture can be created with a PCB by means of different mounting devices with a varied range of functions. If programmed components are used in the circuit, pin assignments and signals from FPGAs from different manufacturers can be read. It also supports a design methodology that integrates the vendor tools of the FPGA manufacturers into the place and route of programmable blocks. Changes in the logic can be easily imported into the circuit diagram. OrCAD Capture is also the module for switching inputs from PSpice network lists to simulate analog and mixed-signal circuits.

For designs incorporating programmable devices (such as FPGAs), an Engineering Change Order (ECO) flow is supported, which synchronizes various work steps in the FPGA tool, the circuit diagram, and the PCB editor by forward and backward annotation. Using the CIS option, circuit diagram symbols and data sheets from online databases can be placed directly in the circuit diagram. The CIS option also allows you to transfer component information from a company-owned database.

OrCAD Capture CIS can communicate directly with an ODBC interface relational databases (e.g., SQL, Access) and database management systems. Thus, the search in the Component Browser extends to metadata such as Price or PDF data sheets. It is connected to the data of the Databases accessed. It can be part numbers, EOL information or Second-source information is managed centrally and via the connection in Capture CIS.

OrCAD Capture CIS has an advanced component browser that allows the user to select components parameterized. The component library can also be synchronized via an ODBC interface with a database (e.g., ERP) in the enterprise. This is useful if e.g. the availability and price of components not be maintained by the development, but from another department within the company. Thus, information about discontinued or not released components can already be considered in the design of the circuit.

Based on a printed circuit board, different devices can be used with different types of components generate different levels of expansion or different customers. Variants can be found in it exist that a component is equipped with a different value. Same components with different Values are colored green in the example on the left. With the CIS option you can omit or additional placement of components the parts list vary. These components are marked red in the left example. This allows you to access bills of material based on a circuit diagram and generate variants of the circuit diagram. Different assembly drawings can then output in the PCB Editor.

OrCAD Capture is a schematic entry tool to capture the design intent of an electronic circuit. Schematics capture the netlist and drive later in the design process the layout of a PCB. During development OrCAD Capture can be used to run circuit simulations with PSpice. Select an area or the circuit and create a live copy as a testbench. Now you can apply voltages and probes for simulation on the virtual copy of the schematic. Optimization and documentation of wave forms stays in sync with the master schematic for the layout.

Public training classes are offered on a regular basis. In the table below you will see the time table, when these classes are offered. In addition you can ask for your own training on your site, which makes business sense, when you have five or more person attend the same class form one company. Customization of trainings is possible too.

FlowCAD bietet zustzlich Dienstleistungen wie PCB Layout Service (OrCAD, Allegro, Altium), Erstellung von Bibliotheken fr Symbole, Footprints und Modelle, Auftragssimulationen (Sigrity, PSpice, Nextra Luft- und Kriechstrecken).

OrCAD Systems Corporation was a software company that made OrCAD, a proprietary software tool suite used primarily for electronic design automation (EDA). The software is used mainly by electronic design engineers and electronic technicians to create electronic schematics, and perform mixed-signal simulation and electronic prints for manufacturing printed circuit boards (PCBs). OrCAD was taken over by Cadence Design Systems in 1999 and was integrated with Cadence Allegro in 2005.

Founded in 1985 by John Durbetaki, Ken, and Keith Seymour as "OrCAD Systems Corporation" in Hillsboro, Oregon, the company became a supplier of desktop electronic design automation (EDA) software. The name OrCAD is a portmanteau, reflecting the company and its software's origins: Oregon + CAD. In 1984 Durbetaki began designing an expansion chassis for the IBM PC. Durbetaki, who had left Intel Corp. after five years as an engineer and project manager, decided, along with brothers Keith and Ken Seymour, to start his own company to develop add-on instrumentation for the PC.[2] Durbetaki began creating his schematic capture tool for his use in the PC expansion chassis project; but essentially shelved the hardware project entirely in favor of developing low-cost, PC-based CAD software. The company's first product was SDT (Schematic Design Tools) for DOS, which shipped first in late 1985.
