Dear Erie Airpark Homeowners,
In response to your request, I am providing information that may be of interest to the community.
At the November 21, 2024, AEDAB meeting, ESP presented a draft of the Crosswind Runway Study. ESP was commissioned by the Town of Erie to evaluate potential land uses for the Crosswind Runway, focusing on market demand for the following options: urban agriculture, solar facilities, residential hangars, and commercial hangars.
I encourage interested homeowners to view the archived video of the Airport Economic Development Advisory Board meeting once it becomes available. You can access it on the Town of Erie website here: Archived AEDAB Meetings.
Best regards,
Jennifer Webb

Erie Airpark Homeowners,
In response to your request, please find information below that may be beneficial to the homeowners.
The Town of Erie is currently conducting two studies: one with a broad focus on the economic development of the airport property, and the other with a more specific focus on the crosswind runway. Both studies are approaching completion. During the July 18th AEDAB meeting, Development Strategies presented a draft of one of the studies. As this is a lengthy presentation to summarize, I would encourage interest parties to watch the Archived Airport Economic Development Board Video, https://www.erieco.gov/1137/Meetings, July 18, 2024.
One topic of interest discussed at the September 19, AEDAB meeting involved exploratory conversations and ideas regarding potential uses for the property at Highway 7 and Bonanza, including possibilities such as airport facilities, an FBO, hangars, or residential/business development.

Take care,

Jennifer Webb

One interesting tidbit I noticed in the presentation was the option to just sell the land. They are callling out a sale price just under $1M for the whole thing... Man I wish I had that laying about so we could just buy it as a community and decide for ourselves what to do with it...

Laurren, same. However, Krissy and I were also thinking that maybe the properties surrounding the old runway could “draw” new lot lines to extend their personal property inward towards the E/W runway, and then turn the old runway into the “new” taxiway…

$1,000,000 divided up a dozen or so times makes that figure much more palatable.

My $0.02…

I was wondering about taxi taxiways. Don’t the taxiways on both sides of the E/W need to be kept in tact and maintained as access to the N/S runway? All those homes have runway access.

Yes. But if the runway is now/forever inactivate, why not just make it the taxi way for the south side of Cessna owners, and north side of Piper/Mooney owners?

Couple things, I don't know how the taxi ways run along the east west runway,  but on rwy 34/16 the taxi ways are owned by the adjacent property owner.
I don't understand why every inch of property in Erie must be developed, but is it possible the area can be deemed open space, with a boundary west  to the active runway..?
