We wanted to send an update of what is happening with the 4 projects around the neighborhood with the Town of Erie.
- Sierra Vista Development (south of EAP, West of Bonanza)
- Airport Drive Construction, Development, and County Line Road Connectivity
- Updated Through the Fence Fees and proposal to the Town from the Airport Economic Development Advisory Board
- Colorado National Maintenance Yard
There are a couple updates as well as dates for people to attend meetings if you choose.
- The Board of Trustees was presented the proposal for the zoning change on the property south of EAP. We had several people go and voice their opinions/concerns. Some people sent letters to our elected officials. Other went person and made their voices heard. The Board had many questions for the developer. One was the need of a buffer between our neighborhood and the new development due to the drastic switch from Rural Residential Zoning (Our Neighborhood) and what is going to be 3 and 4 story High Density Zoning. After a long discussion, the developer decided to retract their application and start over with some changes to the proposal. That is a small win for the neighborhood. As a board, we are going to discuss the next steps and how we can be of assistance to the developer. We want to try to work with them to help facilitate a buffer that will adequately protect the taxiway easement, and the homes on the south side next to the development. As well as how the added traffic will affect our homeowners.
- Airport Drive - County Line Connectivity. The Board of Trustees is set to hear the proposal/costs of the Airport Drive/County Line connectivity study at their next meeting, Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5th at 6:00PM. At this time, they will be presented with a plan and a cost analysis. The Board will then vote to continue moving forward with more research or to stop any more research and not move forward with the project. - Updated Through the Fence Fees – Over the last month there have been numerous emails sent to the AEDAB and our town representatives from our neighborhood about the proposed Through the Fence fee structure. Many points were made to show inconsistencies with the town and the fee structure. We are hopefully that the AEDAB and the town are going to reevaluate the fee structure and expenses with the airport. We are going to monitor and try to work with the AEDAB and the town to make sure the plan has the best interest for the homeowners.
- Colorado National Maintenance Yard – There is a posted meeting for a PD Amendment to the Colorado National Maintenance yard. It will be a virtual meeting on May 13th at 1:00 PM. Please see the attached Notice. We currently do not have the virtual meeting link. This would be a great opportunity to share any issues/concerns with the maintenance yard.
Please feel free to reach out to any of the board members if you have any questions. We are going to do our best to keep everyone up to date on these issues.
Thank you all. Great work with Sierra Vista.
