Sorry, it’s taken a few hours to give you all the results of last night’s meeting. A lot is going on here at the North End (of Cessna Dr). 

BTW,  here’s an aside…please apply sunscreen to your kids!! I’m recovering from cancer surgery for basal cell carcinoma. Not that big of a deal, but jeez it’s aggravating!!! I should have had someone else give the presentation. How’s that for a segue?

Now down to business:

As one of your EAP HOA representatives, I gave a presentation to the Airport Economic Development Advisory Board (AEDAB) last night at the Town Hall. This was regarding their recommendation for a new fee structure, which was given to the Town Council in February. The Town staff is currently working on implementing those increased fee recommendations. 

Attached you will find 2 attachments; the HOA board’s PowerPoint presentation and Exhibit A, a spreadsheet.  Please let me know if you have issues opening them up with your application, app, or browser.  I can then help figure out another way for you to view it, or I’ll ask for help from our lovely neighbors. The spreadsheet was passed out to the Advisory Board. Sadly, I was not given the opportunity to address highlights of this exhibit. In it are 100+ questions collected from EAP residents and from my analysis of primary documents.  If you find any errors or misstatements in either of those files, please advise me. Please be specific, e.g. reference the line number in the spreadsheet. Note: I am not interested in rumors; substantiated facts or questions are great. Keep them coming. Comments will be addressed as I can get to them, by email or phone. I’ve done a heap of reading and talking with neighbors. If I know the answer, I will give it. If I don’t, I won’t. I don’t like bullshit and don’t put up with it. Just saying.

The advisory board chair loudly criticized me for delivering an unprofessional presentation. I was firm and direct in my presentation. That approach was not appreciated by most of the advisory board and the airport manager. Nothing I said was unsubstantiated, as this presentation was from the HOA's perspective, backed up by primary sources. If I am off base here, please advise.  After the presentation, the AEDAB heard a motion by our neighbor, Jennifer Webb, to rescind the RTTF fee recommendation.  There was no second to her motion.  Therefore, our attempt to have the AEDAB rescind their recommendation to the Town Council has failed. Despite the outcome, the EAP HOA very much appreciates the time and effort spent by Jennifer on the advisory board. Thank you!

At this point, I personally have no trust in the advisory board because they have not provided any business justification to increase fees, other than saying there’s a deficit; i.e. give us money.  I watch my pennies … I expect the Town/airport to watch theirs. I want them to share an actual accounting history before I will give any more pennies to the airport/town for excessive spending, which leads to continued deficits.  If there’s a CPA in the house, please raise your hand. I’m good with accounting, but I’d like some help with quality control.

Here’s a quick tease for those who can’t read… ;)

Did you know that the Weld County assessor already has a “Runway Access” cell in their spreadsheet for our assessments? That means we are already paying more in taxes.  I will not be entertaining any idea of double taxation.  More nuggets like this are found in the spreadsheet.

What wasn't discussed? Anything about agreements. That's for another day, perhaps soon.

Thanks to those who showed up and addressed the Advisory Board at the start of the meeting. Thanks, also, to all those who provided me with documents and email comments.  I very much appreciate how much you care about your neighbors and the airport.
