Alcatel Go Flip 3 Software Update

Alcatel has come out with a new flip phone(Alcatel Flip 3 for T-Mobil and Smart Flip for AT&T) that will use Google Assistant to do voice texting. So far I see nothing like this for Verizon use. I live out in the country where Verizon is the only choice to get good reception, and currently have a Samsung Gusto 3, but 3G CDMA is ending at the end of 2020. If I buy one of these new phones that is locked for T-Mobile or AT&T, is there a way I could get it unlocked, and use it on the Verizon prepaid $30 unlimited talk, text, and 500MB data plan?

I can't get my Alcatel flip phone to access my NETGEAR WiFi at home. It lists the correct NETGEAR network but won't accept the password. This is not usually necessary, but if the Verizon network goes down, it would be handy. It works other places. Any ideas?

I know TCL has holding in this company so I am not surprised it is more chinese products loaded with maleware. I already knew this and should never have purchased this phone. The fact that it didn't ask me for my router password when connecting was suspicious enough. Does anyone think it could have malware? I know it likely can't be removed due to the OS, I just wanted a simple flip phone for work instead of using my smart phones.

the weird thing is, when i use the email app on the phone, it is able to connect to the internet and update with new emails. so just seems to be the "browser" function/app that doesn't connect to the internet.

I have an Alcatel 4044v and I find the browser will crash if you visit a heavy website. Sometimes I will click the top left key fast and enter a simple website before the heavy one finishes loading. Could be a simple search engine or weather site. I find sometimes you have to click on the browser twice to get it out of the crash state. I find it's battery lasts a long time on standby for road trips.

@SGJM the phone was never really designed for browsing internet, other than to check your email. It's got a 2 inch screen, no touch capability etc. You would need a magnifying glass to read everthing. Are you trying to get your mother to upgrade to a smartphone ?

@SGJM I've never really tried to get the browser to work on my flip phone but I do remember getting a really cute Google page so it is definitely possible. I'll have to look at the settings to see if there's anything that can help you.....the roommate is borrowing it for now. But I'll check in to see if you haven't had any success.

@popping true enough, but, if you do the search check, it doesn't show up.

Try it out first to see what I mean. I wouldn't want the moderators giving you the same answer if they check to see if your phone doesn't work.

My mother is using an Alcatel Go Flip. I cannot remember what I did. I was able to send a picuture MMS to her phone as wall paper. I did not test the browser. It was painful to setup APN with that dial pad.

Call quality on the Alcatel Go Flip was pretty good, particularly for a flip phone. This phone supports HD calls, and the sound is nice and loud. This phone is also M4/T4 in terms of hearing aid compatibility.

Sending text messages has never been a strength of flip phones; however, the Go Flip allows you to dictate messages with your voice. Rather than manually typing letters with the number pad, with this phone, you can activate Google Assistant (by holding down the center GO button) and then speak your message.

As well as sending messages, Google Assistant can also be used to ask questions. By holding down the center button and asking a question, the Go Flip will essentially run a Google search to answer your questions.

One notable omission from Google Assistant, however, is the inability to place calls or activate apps. For example, you cannot ask Google Assistant to call a specific contact or to open Facebook; rather, you must do this manually.

While I never expect much from a flip phone camera, I have to say, the 2 MP camera on the Alcatel Flip Phone is particularly bad. Even with a steady hand and ample lighting, photos are still rendered out of focus and colorless. The same applies to videos.

While many major networks have phased out flip phones, the Alcatel Go Flip and TCL Flip Go are two options that are still widely used. While the two phones look almost identical, there are some slight differences under the hood.

In terms of battery life, the Alcatel Go Flip lasted us a bit longer, giving us over two days on standby and nine hours of talk time. The TCL Flip, however, gave us one day of standby time and seven hours of talk time. That said, both of these battery lives are still respectable.

Velk šestipalcov obrazovka umožňuje někter funkce, se ktermi jsme se na předchozch smartphonech Alcatelu nesetkali.
