HotspotKits are checked out for 30 days and will renew up to three times after the original due date if there are no other customers waiting. Please monitor due dates to avoid being charged the full replacement cost of the Hotspot Kit.

Please take care of your Hotspot Kit. Fees will apply if the Wi-Fi hotspot or any accessory is lost or damaged. Library card privileges will be suspended until the Hotspot Kit is returned or charges on the account are paid.

You can check the availability of hotspots at your local branch by searching "mobile hotspot" in the library catalog or by calling any branch. If hotspots are not available, you may place a Hotspot Kit on hold. Only one hold is allowed per library account. Once you are notified that your Hotspot Kit is available, you will have seven business days to pick it up at your selected library location.

On the printer in the menu system you can configure wifi. When you do it will prompt you to use a phone or other wireless device. You navigate to the access point it suggests (will be something like "ultimaker-44aa". Then open *any* DNS address that isn't https. Probably best to pick one you've never been to such as "aaabbcde.com" and the dns server on the ultimaker will direct the query to it's own ip address automatically.

@HaiderOfSweden - I'm not sure if you are giving us full information. When you say "it doesn't work" we need more details. Did you find the hotspot? What was the name of the hotspot? Did your phone say it was connected? Were you very careful to avoid https? What message did you get on your phone?

People have said that doing a "cura connect reset" makes a world of difference. Some people have to do this several times per week but it works. It works better than rebooting or other "start over" methods. I have never had to do "cura connect reset" and I'm not even sure how to do that but I assume it's in the menus somewhere on the UM3 and S5.

I would start with mentioning that I've done the Wifi Setup before and have succeeded. The printer had been packed down for some time and now I resumed my work. Unpacked, and was ready to go, but failed. Maybe the wifi password was changed since last time, maybe something else.

The browser on your mobile device can still cache pages - in which case it might not work as expected. It is a good idea to clear the browser cache before trying, or as you did, use an url you have not tried before... Making one up should work as well: "iwant.wifi.now"

Making one up also assures it isn't https as most sites these days are https and you can't get to the UM wifi setup web page if you choose an https site. Such as google.com. So making up a new site is best like: a.a

I had this exact same issue, the problem for me was that my Pixel was intelligently noticing that the Wifi network didn't have internet connectivity so was routing all my traffic to my mobile network. Setting my phone to Airplane mode, then connecting to the hotspot fixed this issue for me (Ultimaker S5)

I'm trying to play a video game with my friends that requires a local wifi network that allows UDP broadcasts. The dorm wifi doesn't allow UDP broadcasts, so I'm trying to set up my laptop as a hotspot. Windows 10 by default allows you to share an internet connection over wifi, but you must have an internet connection to do so. Sharing the wifi connection results in a lot of problems such as constant disconnects, and I don't have access to an ethernet connection to share. Is there some way I can set up a wifi network without actually sharing an internet connection?

1.) Open an elevated command prompt. Win+X and choose CMD (Admin) OR type in "cmd" or "command prompt" into Windows Search by typing into Start Menu and then right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator"

2.) Check if your system is capable run this command: netsh wlan show drivers. Scroll down to Hosted network supported. If it saysYes you are in luck; if No there is no easy alternative and don't continue.

Replace %ssid% with your Wifi or "Hotspot" Name or SSID. E.g. ssid=MyGreatHotspot. Replace %pass% with your Wifi or "Hotspot" Password. It must be 8 characters long at a minimum. E.g. key=strongPasswordsAreWEAK.

4.) After that run the command, netsh wlan start hostednetwork, to start the "Hotspot" broadcast. Right now you can play without internet connection after all devices connect. Remember to check IP addresses of all your individual devices in order to connect to each other. The hotspot's IP Address usually is "192.168.137.1".

5.) Open Run (Win + R) or by searching for Run and enter in ncpa.cpl, then press Enter. A new adapter has shown in the screen it should say something along the lines of "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter". (Optional if you're OCD, rename that one if its says "L.A.N Connection* 15" or rather to like "Hotspot"). Right click the Internet Connect Source you want to share internet from and choose "Properties." Go to the "Sharing" Tab and checkmark or toggle on "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet Connection." Apply, OK to save changes.

In case writing your own application is a possibility, have a look at the WiFi Direct API, which offers a legacy mode. Enabling the legacy mode will create a SoftAP with the specified SSID and password. However, specifying no password doesn't seem to be supported.

Have a look at the IoTOnboarding sample to see the legacy mode in action (and to have a better 'documentation' than what Microsoft officially provides): IotOnboarding/IoTOnboardingService/OnboardingAccessPoint.cs

If you are still using windows 10, then just open "Microsoft Store" from Start Menu. Find the app named as "Hotspot Lite" from there and just install it. Now open the app and configure the settings if you want or not. Done!!

Assuming it is correct, you will need a way to connect the base station (which uses ethernet) to the hotspot. That will require you to purchase a wifi extender of some kind (which does have ethernet out). The Netgest EX3700 is one that should work, and is inexpensive. You'd need to configure the extender to connect over wifi to the hotspot, and connect the ethernet port on the extender to the base station.

For many months I've accessed a public xfinitywifi hotspot using my tablet which only supports 2.4 GHz wifi. About 3 weeks ago it stopped being able to connect to it. In fact it doesn't even show up on the list of available networks. Yesterday and today I checked it out again using my phone (which supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi) and found that the hotspot was no longer broadcasting on 2.4 GHz. Only on 5 GHz. The phone connected to it just fine on 5 GHz. So it seems like the hotspot is still functional, but has stopped broadcasting on 2.4 GHz. How can I get it to resume operation on that frequency?

As background, this hotspot is on a utility pole in a commercial/industrial park, and not associated with any of the nearby businesses (I checked with all 3 nearby businesses and all use Verizon as their ISP). I used the signal strength of the 5 GHz wifi from the hotspot to pin down its position to the pole (the signal is -40 dB at the pole and between -55 and -60 dB near the adjacent buildings).

I have tried contacting Comcast technical support by phone, but can't get through the automated system as it does a check on my home internet and tells me that all is ok. I got through to Comcast technical support chat from Facebook, and was told that all hotspots where associated with homes or businesses and that they couldn't do anything about how they worked (I think they were just blowing me off).

Finally I have found someone experiencing and explaining EXACTLY what has occurred to me in the last 2 weeks, only, this is happening to my xfinitiywifi SSID being broadcast from my home router. Both xfinitywifi and XFINITY can only be connected to via 5Ghz devices. Devices that are 2.4Ghz can not even see these SSID's to connect to them. VERY frustrating.
