Unless they have changed practice you won't be able to activate an evaluation with an OEM/Retail key anyway. The licence type of the media and key must match -US/44179f86-f8a6-4dc2-8692-b1637e72280b/windows-license-types-explained
You are expected to trial run then reinstall with valid licence/media for actual use. If you make good documentation as you test migration of your apps, installing windows and doing the process clean shouldn't be very much more work and likely to end up with a neater more reliable result.
By following above steps we can disable the hourly shutdown of VM after expiry of license but the easiest way is to Activate the windows by providing a legal key. Since this is not a supported method please do not use this on laptops/VMs that are in production.
I am facing weird issue. I am evaluating Windows and Office Deployment Lab Kit which has everything configured. I created few VMs using Windows 10 v1909 Enterprise ISO downloaded from -in/evalcenter .

If you are testing an evaluation version of Windows 8.1, you might be inconvenienced because Microsoft does not support any way to convert the evaluation edition to the full enterprise edition with a public KMS key like it is possible for Windows Server 2012. You cannot change the edition with DISM commands in Windows 8.1. Even if you download the ISO image of the enterprise edition of Windows 8.1 and try to upgrade the OS, it will not allow you to proceed.
Here is a workaround which lets you upgrade Windows 8.1 Evaluation to the Full version easily.
Using a simple Registry tweak, we can unblock the upgrade and use the setup program of the full version on the installed Windows 8.1 evaluation edition. This will preserve all installed apps and settings. Follow these simple steps:
Now using the eval command, I am finding any results with "-", "ADFS", or "randomcomputername$" and instead choosing the next result for account_name. However when running the search, I am still seeing account_names with $ at the end of the account name.
If you are interested in evaluating Microsoft Windows 11, in addition to the ISO image, you can now download a pre-configured Windows 11 image (OVF) that can run on any VMware Desktop Hypervisor (Workstation, Player and Fusion) for 90 days!
For those running VMware Fusion on Apple Silicon or ESXi-Arm, per the FAQ, it does not look like Microsoft has any short term plans to provide a pre-configured Windows 11 Arm VM image for evaluation! ?
If you are testing an evaluation version of Windows 10 and decided to upgrade to the full version, you will face a stumbling block. The evaluation version offered is of the Enterprise edition but Microsoft does not support any way to convert the evaluation version to a fully licensed version of enterprise edition! You cannot change the edition with DISM commands or using any other method. Even if you download the ISO image of the enterprise edition of Windows 10 and try to upgrade the existing "evaluation" OS, it will not allow you to proceed.
Here is a workaround which lets you upgrade Windows 10 Evaluation to the Full version easily.
Using a simple Registry tweak, we can unblock the upgrade and use the setup program of the full version on the installed Windows 10 evaluation edition. This will preserve all installed apps and settings. Follow these simple steps:
try creating a Win10 enterprise install media to a USB flash drive. then run the Win10 enterprise install thru the usb drive.
I sometimes get installation errors because of bad installation media thru DVD media.
Thanks so much. Since I manage several projects with competing environments, I decided to create a VM for my newest project. Since Hyper-V was so accommodating about it, I used an evaluation copy, thinking that, of course, they would make it easy for me to upgrade to a paid copy when the evaluation time was up. Your advice here was the difference between having to re-create the entire environment and just being able to work.
This article is made for IT pros that have access to win 10 enterprise and stumble onto this insanity by ms.
this is not a guide how to get win 10 enterprise, you wont. get a volume license contract first
I fetched myself the latest copy of the Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC evaluation for setting up my Windows install. The latest version when I set that up was Version 1809 and features like Windows Subsystem for Linux 2and PowerToys Run are only available for versions 1903 and later. The general advice would be to backup and reinstall.
In many organizations, SQL Server Enterprise edition is the default deployment option for production workloads. This might be due to a common misconception that a SQL Server Standard edition database is not capable of supporting enterprise-class applications. Both Enterprise edition and Standard edition share a common code base, so technically they offer the same SQL Server database functionalities.
SQL Server Standard edition on Amazon RDS delivers enterprise-class features and performance with options such as Multi-AZ deployment for high availability, Performance Insights for performance tuning, and Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring.
The Enterprise versions are available as both ISOs and also through the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). Additionally, the company has also made available a 90 day evaluation version, for those businesses wanting to test the value of Windows 10 without having to make an immediate business decision.
But if the Windows 10 upgrade itself is free, why would you need to bother with a free evaluation edition? Well, installing the trial version gives you three months to check out Windows 10. During that time, you can still maintain your current Windows 7 or 8.1 environment for your everyday tasks. The Windows 10 Enterprise edition is geared for large businesses, but it still offers the same features you'll find in the Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro editions as long as you pick the right option when you download the software..
Yes, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free from Windows 7 or 8.1? But how do you know you'll like Windows 10 unless you try it beforehand. The Windows 10 Enterprise evaluation edition gives you that opportunity. Plus, it's free to try. And running it in a dual-boot or virtual machine setup means you don't have to wipe out your Windows 7 or 8.1 environment.
Update, 8/4, 9:30 a.m. PT: Adds details on how to download the regular Windows 10 Enterprise evaluation edition, which gives you access to all the core Windows apps and the Windows Store.
Visual Studio Enterprise includes Visual Studio for Mac. The same experience you know and love from Visual Studio, meticulously crafted and optimized for Mac. Build modern web apps or 5-star mobile apps using enterprise-grade tools, faster and easier than ever before, on Windows or Mac.
Now that you have bought yourself some time. You will need to convert the evaluation edition of Windows to a production version using a General Volume License Key (GVLK), which are used when setting up KMS clients. Microsoft publishes a list of those keys here. I suggest that you make a backup or snapshot of the server before attempting a conversion.
Windows PCs have long been a dominating force in the workplace and continue to represent most desktops in enterprise settings. They offer several important features for carrying out business processes.
Support for business apps. Windows PCs have dominated the enterprise for so long that many business applications, productivity tools and other proprietary software began as Windows only. Some added support for Mac clients, but these products might not be as robust and feature rich as their PC counterparts. Some apps remain strictly PC-based. Windows PCs also offer built-in support for Office products and services. Although Microsoft provides Mac editions, the PC editions are still superior. In addition, Microsoft doesn't offer Mac editions of Access, Visio or Project.
Despite these disadvantages, Windows PCs continue to dominate the workplace and will likely do so for some time to come. Yet the influx of Mac computers, along with the wide range of other devices, has forced organizations to reevaluate their traditional IT operations and figure out ways to accommodate the changing landscape of end-user devices. A one-size-fits-all approach to device management no longer works in today's organization, even as the debate between Mac and PC continues. Organizations must consider usability, productivity and their device management strategies, or they risk falling behind.

On my Windows Server 2012 machine SQL Server 2008 evaluation time has expired. After Edition Upgrade nothing happens, SQL Service doesn't start. In service log still is information about expired evaluation time. Upgrade log contains information about pending installation. Nothing happens after server restart. I want to avoid re-installation of SQL Server. Logs below:
I have a hunch that you changed system date to workaround with evaluation period expired message and then you forgot to change it back. After this you did edition upgardea and this some how changed registries to incorrect value.
