Dear all,

My name is Faidra Faitaki, and I am based at the University of Oxford. I currently explore whether drama can be used to develop oral language in primary school (EAL and non-EAL) pupils. I am interested to hear what primary school practitioners think about the use of drama for oral language development.

So, I would like to invite schools in/near Oxford to take part in a *free* knowledge exchange (CPD) workshop. Here is some information about the workshops:
  • What will the workshops involve? The workshop participants (primary school staff) will be asked to share their views on using drama to develop pupils’ oral language. We will then offer insights from our project so far on how to best incorporate drama activities in the classroom. We will also leave you with booklets with suggested drama activities that you can incorporate in your classroom.
  • When/where will the workshops take place? We aim to hold the workshops during November (but there is some flexibility around the timing). A research assistant and I will come to your school at a date/time that works for you. We will provide lunch and/or refreshments for all participants.
  • Who can participate? We are looking for 4-5 primary schools in/near Oxford to take part, and would like to have 4-10 staff from the school (e.g., teachers, TAs, EAL/SEND practitioners) attending each workshop. There is no need for participating staff to have used drama activities before or to even like the idea of using drama in order to take part - in fact, we would love to hear from people without experience or with dissenting views! We would be happy to offer certificates of attendance to attendees.
If participating in this workshop sounds of interest to you, please get in touch with me at faidra....@education.ox.ac.uk to find out more and sign up! Also, do feel free to disseminate this call (and attached flyer) with your networks.

Thank you so much,
Faidra
