Dear All,

We have courses coming up on how to use this new blended learning platform that supports learner autonomy and highlights opportunities for teaching to the needs of your learners. It includes excellent tracking of progress.  After piloting in many parts of the country, the Learning Village is now in about 100 schools and growing!

Come and see what it's all about here:
  • Worcester - 5th April
  • London - 18th May
  • Birmingham - 8th June

Local authority pilots still available - please get in touch if you are interested. Recent pilots have included Merton, Havering, Oasis, Wiltshire and Gateshead with more in the pipeline. It's an opportunity for local authorities to learn more about a huge EAL resource and a chance for us to showcase the Learning Village to you and one of your schools.

Summary:

The Learning Village provides targeted online and offline learning for 6-14 year old English language learners in schools where English is the language of instruction.

Lessons are split among three strands of learning:

·  Survival language - New-to-English to intermediate lessons including the basics of vocabulary and language structures

·  Customised curriculum content - Vocabulary and language structures for the curriculum

·  Phonics – The teaching of reading through sounds

In summary it:

• Includes 8000+ words and phrases, incorporating speaking, listening, reading and writing

• Offers tools that help learners unable to read their mother tongue (almost all languages covered)

• Saves significant time preparing lessons

• Assess & track learner progress

• Provides support for blended classrooms or for self-study

• Offers excellent support for Special Educational Needs students

• Allows learners to support themselves

Best wishes,
Caroline
