I have a few questions about EAL registers and would appreciate your input. Since this group primarily consists of professionals working in UK settings, I’d love to hear about common practices.
I work at an international school and haven't worked in the UK for some time. When adding EAL students to a register (or equivalent) after an initial assessment, is there a standard system for recording student data? Do most schools use the Bell Foundation Framework Bands, or are the CEFR level also used?
Additionally, at what stage are students removed from the EAL register or no longer considered EAL? For example, do schools typically remove students at Band E (fluent)? If a child is removed, is there a way of knowing that they previously received EAL support?
