Racing to Literacy programme by Alice Washbourne

Good afternoon,

 

I am trying to find out costs and where I can download/buy the Racing to Literacy Programme by Alice Washbourne.  I have numerous students with EAL who have no phonemic knowledge and they are struggling to decode/ write etc. As they are secondary aged – regular phonics programmes are inappropriate.  Does anyone know where I can access it please? Google has been unhelpful.

I think it was written by Alice Washbourne, who has is now an artist an no longer an EAL practitioner. I suspect Racing to Literacy was owned and marketed by Lewisham Council, who no longer appear interested in it.

Your best bet is to find someone with a copy.

Hi Louise,

 

I haven’t heard of this but we use Phonics for Life which is great for older EAL learners as well as younger ones as it has a focus on language development as well as phonics and the images are real photos so no ‘kiddy’ pictures that would put older learners off.
