Exactly the same for us, the results really benefit the school so there's never been any conversation to charge at any school I've worked in

Schools in Hampshire make their own decisions about this. Some charge the families - which for me makes it something only more wealthy families can afford ie a poor decision that discriminates against those who may have less disposable income - whilst others cover the costs, enabling any child with the right skills to take the exam in their language. We have tried several times to persuade the exam boards to broaden the range of languages offered to include Romanian and Hungarian (for starters) with no success, this being another way that some languages are prioritised over others. So it is a bumpy terrain on many fronts.

In our school, we pay for any pupil premium/FSM students. Other families have to pay the entry fee.
