Thanks John. We have learned a lot in the past from US research where there has been more funding and support for long term research.
I was involved nearly fifty years ago with two experimental US projects which have only recently produced impact reports. One on employing native speakers of little taught (critical) languages to have purposeful conversations with fellow students wanting to learn the language and another on providing small group work and more choice in the high school curriculum.
It's very cheering to discover that ideas that you floated tentatively have influenced lives and created impact.
