The Postgraduate Certificate in TEAL is a successful course that has
been running for some years at Canterbury Christ Church University,
Canterbury, Kent.
The three modules (20 credits each) comprise:
1. Introduction to TEAL ( an overview of main issues including whole
school issues and the role of the EAL specialist) 2. Second Language
Acquisition and Learning in the Classroom ( a focus on the language
learner, taking a sociocultural perspective) 3. The Structure and
Teaching of English in Curriculum Contexts
Last year's fee was £1015 for the three modules and is now being
confirmed for this year but I would not expect it to rise beyond
£1100.
The course will be offered 5 Fridays per term (1 - 7pm) in the old
fashioned sense of 3 terms per year (one module per term)
There is now a fast train from St Pancras (even cheaper with a
railcard) so that it is only 57 minutes to Canterbury. The university
is a 20 minute walk from the station through the historic town centre.
This course has been very successful and we would like it to
continue!!
If you are interested could you contact me and I will be able to
provide further details!
