There has been an announcement today that researchers at Oxford have developed an effective vaccine for malaria and, more important, since apparently 94% of malaria cases are in Africa, it is inexpensive and easily transportable.
We developed an activity about malaria vaccine in 2004 called Push and Pull
which many of you have probably used with your pupils or passed on to science and or citizenship teachers. At the time Gordon Brown promised that the government would buy 300 million doses to send to Africa.
Would any colleagues like to help us develop an updated version of the activity and would all colleagues contact their MP to ask whether the government will keep their promise. There a quite a lot of other promises flying around at the moment so this one may have slipped their memory.
