Ric,
It’s a fact that there are many different definitions or
interpretations of what a Christian is. Wikipedia’s definition is
A Christian (pronounced /ˈkrɪstʃən/ ( listen)) is a person who
adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic, religion based on
the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who Christians believe
was the Messiah (the Christ in Greek-derived terminology) prophesied
in the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, and the Son of God
The belief that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost
identified as one and known as the trinity has some earthly examples.
One is that water comes in the form as a liquid, as a solid as ice and
as a vapor such as steam. All are H20. I think that what is believed
to be fact, if it differs from the bible is in error. I realize that
many are swayed or their positions are solidified with tons of
information available at odds with scripture. But for those of us who
believe that Christ was God in the flesh in order to die for our sins
and to redeem us from sin's curse , the Bible is infallible and a
divine authority in which we put our faith. The importance of
believing in the divinity of Christ is fundamental to me and many.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he
that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him.
That being said……. There are plenty who say and classify themselves as
Christians, who do not share my beliefs and who don’t believe the
Bible is infallible. They don’t believe that a Holy God preserved his
word for those that love him. Science is the basis for many people’s
beliefs. If everything in life was crystal clear or spelled out, then
there would be no need for faith. Only God’s truth is truth, not mine
or any other’s interpretation. God will reveal himself to those who
seek him. That is the hope for mankind. Ric, I am grateful for your
post and respect your right to disagree. God did not create clones or
robots, he created mankind with free choice.
