Hi Louise, Dunia, Godfrey, Dieudonne, Anne and Europe-Africa circle,
I'm hoping we can give a big boost to up-and-coming NVC trainers in Africa next summer. (More below)
Any reactions?
Can Dunia, Louise, Anne, Dieudonne, and Godfrey (if they want) be added to the Europe-Africa googlegroup? (there is little traffic, and you can choose to receive no emails)
Which French speaking trainers are working in Africa apart from Louise and Dunia?
Thanks!
Ray
More
One thing is to offer support with their in-country projects - another is to come together in Europe
I've realised that a Schengen visa + the European Intensive in France+ the summer festival in Belgium+some specialist training/coaching would be a great package for the cost of only one flight.
If we have a clear theme - eg mediation and preventing election violence, or learning from African experience with NVC - or if we build this training into an all-Africa NVC project, we could seek major funding.
There is, for example, a lot of interest in community-based early warning and response to prevent election violence, and in work with media in Ghana
I'm drafting this email for sending out, but it isn't ready as I don't have the dates for the summer festival, and actually it might be better to write something more focused, if we get clearer exactly what we want, where and when.
Is it time for an Africa NVC Facebook page? and can we combine anglophone and francophone and swahili and arabic?
I'm personally planning to start a west africa facebook page, which I hope will provide news about all events in west africa accessible to west africans in english and french and local languages.
Any more reactions?
Here's the draft email (feedback welcome)

Hi!
to all trainers/organisers able to do events in
France,
Spain (esp Barcelona),
Italy (esp Milan),
Zurich,
Frankfurt,
Netherlands,
Belgium :
1. Please schedule NVC or peace-building or youthwork or mediation events and the NVC festival in Belgium
a little before august 3 and a little after august 12th but NOT during the european festival if possible
ie. events which would be suitable for emerging trainers from Africa
(the young trainers I have in mind will be English-speaking, but the Francophone network may also like the idea of an Africa-Europe "NVC extensive" experience in July and August 2012)
2. let me know if you are willing to take on an apprentice or coach someone for 4-10 days, within travelling distance of Carcssone/Toulouse, southern France
Why?
I've discovered that there will be a European Intensive training aug 3-12 in France which I think will be great for the Sierra Leoneans:
A french schengen visa will cover all of Europe except Britain and Ireland, so for the Sierra Leoneans it would make more sense to ask for more events in nearby countries rather than the uk, until we are sure that a UK visa is granted.

Hi all
Quick request:
please put up any events you have in mind for next summer
//
Why?
I want to design a 6-8 week program of workshops, visits and events that a Sierra Leonean could do with a variety of trainers.
Ideally we would have a 2 week international extensive training at the heart of it,

Background
I'm back from Sierra Leone, which went well (news to follow) but I'm doing some immediate follow up work.
There is a young trainer (Lansana) in Freetown, already doing 1-3 day intros+ with a Swiss guy and another Sierra Leonean, and he'd like to develop further as a trainer, and do NVC full time.
He was thinking about an IIT in the USA but I think he may be too late for that. I also realised we may be able to do something better
