When? Wednesday, 9/21, 7:30 PM - 10 PM. Note the change to Wednesday this week!
Where? The Buzz Mill, 1505 Town Creek Dr, Austin, TX
What? Rick Korzekwa is the Director of AI Impacts, a research organization that aims to improve our understanding of the likely impacts of human-level artificial intelligence. He is visiting from the Bay Area and will be attending this event to share about the work that AI Impacts is doing and take any questions you may have about AI Impacts or what it's like working for a small research nonprofit in EA. Discussion will be focused on AI Impacts' work from approximately 8 - 9 PM, with informal socializing to follow.
Parking? Parking at The Buzz Mill sometimes fills up, in which case we suggest parking in the large Walgreens parking lot across the street.
Food? There are two food trucks at The Buzz Mill (one is vegan).
What is EA Austin? "EA" stands for "Effective Altruism". Effective altruism is a project that aims to find the best ways to help others and put them into practice. It's both a research field, which aims to identify the world’s most pressing problems and the best solutions to them, and a practical community that aims to use those findings to do good. EA *Austin* is the local Austin chapter of the global EA community. We support each other in increasing our positive impact!
