What? Do you want a say in what kind of events, workshops, and projects EA Austin organizes? Now is your chance.
THE SURVEY: Instead of a short reading, this week we ask that you fill out our 10-20 minute EA Austin Member Experience Survey. We hope some of our potential offerings will be just what you’ve been looking for, and there is also space open for suggestions. Everything you share helps our organizers tailor their efforts to you, so we encourage you to share more! And as a bonus incentive for filling it out, you could win up to $300 to give to a nonprofit of your choice! We really look forward to receiving your input.
THE EVENT: Your survey responses will inform what we announce and start planning this week, so we strongly recommend completing the survey ahead of time. Do so here. At the event itself, after we announce our overall plans for EA Austin for the coming months, we will break into groups to elaborate on and show strong support for any program ideas and other kinds of support that you are excited about.
As usual, we close with a casual social hour or two. Don’t forget to RSVP to the Facebook event to let others know you’re attending! See you there!
Parking? Parking at The Buzz Mill sometimes fills up, in which case we suggest parking in the large Walgreens parking lot across the street.
Food? There are two food trucks at The Buzz Mill (one is vegan).
What is EA Austin? EA Austin is the local chapter of the global Effective Altruism community. Effective altruism is a project that aims to find the best ways to help others and put them into practice. It's both a research field, which aims to identify the world’s most pressing problems and the best solutions to them, and a practical community that aims to use those findings to do good.
If you are new to EA and wish to attend this event, please read this overview of effective altruism (15 min read): http://bit.ly/introea
Feel free to reach out at effectivealtruismaustin-at-gmail-dot-com or DM a host if you have questions!
How to hear about future events? Events are currently cross-posted to both our Facebook group and our new Google Group, which you can subscribe to to receive event updates to your email inbox.
