Have you seen
this collection of interesting landings and airports on CNN?
It got me wondering what airports you may have found interesting or challenging. One that I'd heard some pilots found worst is Catalina, but my one landing and takeoff there so far was fine. Maybe because I was extra cautious after hearing the stories.
My most difficult landing was at Eastport, ME for fuel before crossing the border to New Brunswick for the night. There was a gusty crosswind, and it made for an interesting process including a go around. I decided to try a second pass before retreating to another airport. I was glad it was a long and wide runway with no obstructions, so I could bump along in ground effect until a moment of relative calm allowed me to plant it. Have you ever done something like that, or would you have just gone to an airport aligned with the wind?
